I did take out so I can't really comment on the service. The takeout process was easy and really fast. I ordered full rack of ribs, brussell sprouts, and baked beans. RIbs were tender and tasty. First time I have ever had spicy brussell sprouts, but I enjoyed them. I had a 10 minute walk or so back to the... More

WOW! I am not a big fan of BBQ, but a friend wanted to try this while we were in town for a convention. I had the pulled pork, and it was the best I have ever had.. Loved their sauce as well.. I would certainly become a fan of BBQ if I lived in Raleigh!

We try different BBQ places wherever we travel. We were in Raleigh and read the good reviews and thought we would give it a try. We visited about 2 PM. First were were not able to find a close parking spot. When we entered the establishment was very large with a big bar area and some what smaller dining area.... More

The Pit used to be pretty good but has gone downhill. They are slinging out large quantities of mediocre food. The chopped BBQ and ribs are still tasty but the fried catfish and almost all the sides are poor. Something basic like french fries had to be sent back for fresh, hot ones. It's unhealthy food that used to be... More

The pit has good food but I wasn't thoroughly impressed. I was expecting way better food for authentic southern bbq. The meal was good and I would probably give it another try, maybe it was just an off night.

We have heard great things about The Pit, so we were excited to have dinner there. We had a party of 11 and had made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance because it was college graduation weekend. We were seated promptly and drink orders were taken. The server brought baskets of warm biscuits and hush puppies, which were... More

We're new to Raleigh, and this is the place we bring family and friends to the first time they visit. All the BBQ is delicious, especially the brisket- literally melts in your mouth. The service is always fast. The cocktails are strong and much less expensive than at other restaurants.

I have been to the pit several times over my son's time at NC State. I knew it would be where my son would want to celebrate with the family. Made a reservation back in January and once again we were not disappointed. As a chef/ restaurant owner myself I know how tough weekends like this can be. The pit... More
