We chose this place because of reviews. And given the other excellent choices in the area we were very disappointed. It was pricey which isn't a problem if the food is exceptional but it wasn't. Not even very good. Nothing was seasoned- at all, and that's a shame when you have fresh catch. I had the red drum, my husband... More

Thank you so much for dining with us. We appreciate your feedback on our preparation of fresh seafood. All of our seafood is fresh and local, and our chefs go the extra mile to enhance that fresh flavor. More

Very good food, beautiful views and half orders on most entrees, nice for smaller appetites. Great ambiance for all ages. Be sure to go out back and check out the awesome herb gardens. You know everything is fresh in this restaurant.

During our annual stays in the Outer Banks, Basnight's is one of our regular stops. The menu is excellent and somewhat unique, and the prices are fair and reasonable. The food and service is top-notch. You won't be disappointed.

We ate here on the suggestion of our hotel staff and it has become the main reason we go to the outer banks! Seriously EVERYTHING on the menu is fantastic, the staff is so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is great. My husband and I plan day trips to the beach just to eat at this place. If I... More

We traveled to the outer banks to scout out our beach wedding surroundings, which included a tasting at the Lone Cedar Cafe. What an great experience! Even though Victoria (the lady in charge of catering our wedding) was away for the holidays, we were well taken care of. The staff was very attentive, friendly and extremely helpful in choosing the... More

Had a wonderful time. Food was great. Service was wonderful. The she crab soup is always outstanding loaded with crab meat. The Shrimp n Grits while on the spicy side which I like was cooked to perfection. To topped off the evening, desert was key lime pie, just what the taste buds was calling for. All in all a great... After our innkeeper recommended this place, and since we've driven by it for years, we decided to give it a try. The cafe was nicely decorated for the holidays. Upon arrival at 6:15, we were told we'd have a 10-15 minute wait. No problem, we weren't in a rush. Took about 25 mins to get seated. Then a wait for... More

We ate there tonight and the experience was wonderful as is the norm. We both got the Flounder, veg. medley and mashed sweet potatoes. She also had the crab soup and I had a small house salad. All was cooked perfectly and served hot. Our server, Antron, was courteous and efficient.

This is another must visit for dinner when vacationing at the Outer Banks. Loved the fried shrimp, lighted breaded, and the grits cake that came with the entree.

Description
At Lone Cedar Cafe, we specialize in fresh and local seafood. If you're craving the freshest fish, clams, crab, shrimp and oysters from local North Carolina waters, you'll find them at the Lone Cedar Cafe. For generations, Outer Banks families made their livings - and their daily meals - from the bounty of local waters, caught fresh every day. Our family, the Basnights, were part of that history, and we continue the tradition today by serving only the freshest Outer Banks seafood, caught in local waters and brought to our docks daily by local fishermen, then cleaned and prepared right here at the Lone Cedar Cafe. Our vegetables are "just picked" from North Carolina farms, we serve only all-natural beef and poultry and even our herbs and greens are grown in our own chemical-free garden on-site. Come enjoy delicious food, gorgeous sunsets and panoramic water views, the antics of our resident ospreys and our warm Southern hospitality.
