Was really disappointed with our visit here. Thursday told the specials would be up at 11.30. At 12 told they dont do specials on a thursday. Ordered two seafood chowder @ £9.50 each. Wasn’t chowder, watery soup with a bit of crab and mussel meat....Bread was nice with it right enough. Certainly not £9.50 worth. Decided to give them a second chance that evening. Two burgers and fries with coleslaw @ almost £30.00. Buns were massive , burger was tiny potentially not home made and came out quicker than was possible to cook in that time frame. Clearly not cook to order and by the time i got it the 4 minute walk to the camper it was cold. Coleslaw was big enough to feed a family of 8. Again not living up to the pictures. Service wasnt great aprt from the specials not being there, had to stand around while staff chattednin the back despite the chefs clearly seeing us all stabding there. Also they kind of stack your food on top of eavh other wit the open boxes, so not exactly the best practice here. All and all wont be back , clear case of style over substance . Great concept just poorly executed. Wish them all the bestMore

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Bothy Bistro. Having ordered drinks we checked out the menu and the specials board. I had lobster and my husband had scallops. Both were superb. We were guided as to the portion sizes of various dishes and whether...sides would be a good idea. Service was really friendly and efficient. We’d love to return, hoping they’ll be open more days next time we’re in the area.More

Have been visiting the area on an annual basis and always tried to take lunch in The Bothy Bistro because the food was so good. The place has had a makeover and must have changed hands? The changes in the kitchen are a real concern....The helpings are small and the food is very average. My focaccia and my wife’s bruschetta were identical pieces of toasted white bread dowsed in butter but with no other flavouring whatsoever. The diner next to us was complaining about the chowder as we left. My advice…change your chef and serve bigger portions.More

We have been coming to The Bothy for a few years now, it's our destination on a day out after walk along from Roseisle. We went yesterday with our dog and were directed round the block to the rear entrance. There were no parasols over...the tables or shelter from the elements. The menu looked revamped and we were pleased to see seafood available. We were happy to pay a little bit more for fresh seafood but I'm unfortnately we felt disappointed in what you get for your money. When you order a burger, that's what you get, no fries or salad garnish. You had to pay more for additional fries. We bought two portions of whitebate due to dietary restrictions for the sauce and although the waitress was very attentive to our needs, the portions were bulked out with salad??? In most restaurants when you order whitebate one potion is generous enough to share. Tea pot held tea enough for only one cup, I always feel this is a true measure of an establishment. Waitresses lovely, kitchen staff lovely. We got to know them sitting out the back, as they went to and from the stores. £87 for three lunches, a bit steep.Sadly I feel they are targeting the tourist market. Can't comment on the décor cos we didn't see it!More

This is a lovely restaurant. Really unexpected in this little (off the track) area. The food is gorgeous and the decor is really original and works very well. I just have two comments, there were quite a lot of flies coming in and where I...was sat the sun was right in my eyes, I literally had to wear sunglasses inside, and still couldn’t lift my head. Personally I felt those two things should have been addressed but the staff didn’t seem to worry. I would have scored this a 5 if it hadn’t been for those two facts. Perhaps a different table and it would be perfect.More

Excellent food and service, dinner for 8 of us this evening and all meals were lovely. Highly recommend! The venison, fillet steak, crab and burgers were all great.

We came for lunch for two.... after the refurb after Covid the menu has changed...before it was more of a cafe and now the focus is more bistro... I think the lunch and evening menu are the same now? We both chose the scotch egg...(we only got 1/2 scotch egg so need to amend their menu to 1/2) which was nice but at a small 1/2 at £7 it does seem overpriced. Luckily we bought at £4 each some fries which were delicious but small portion. I am and always have been a big fan of the bothy but I think they have the lunch/mood/price/choice wrong for our local area and these times... we won’t be coming back for lunch at the moment...sorry love the bothy but don’t think they have the day time mood right but time will tell xxMore

So glad you are back! Bootleggers was a lifesaver during lockdown but The Bothy is definitely warmer! We arrived at 8.30pm to a lovely welcome. Cocktails were fab. Wine was even better. The venison chateaubriand was so tender and sides were great. To have such...a special restaurant on our doorstep is a real treat. It's been a pleasure to support you during lockdown at bootleggers. Keep up all your hardwork xMore

West Beach Caravan Park and The Bothy are under the same ownership, so give them a call and I’m sure they will help. Best book a table at The Bothy!
