Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to the Sandbar tonight because we were told it was good and it was their last night of the season. Our experience was a hilarious series of events that did not shine a pretty light on the establishment. The evening began with a...brief list of what was not available on the menu and the information that we could not order a big chowder but we could order up-to-two small chowders. I ordered a Lobster Roll - which was available. It came with a side - I chose the garden salad. I also ordered a beer - they did not have that beer. I ordered a different beer - Belgian Moon - tall can. They did not have a tall can - just a short can for that. I agreed to a short can. We asked if they have any specials - our server just laughed. We took that as a no. When the meal arrived, the lobster roll was tasty but comprised of a lot of lettuce and a sprinkling of lobster. Perhaps they thought I ordered a lettuce roll. The salad was a basic garden salad - as ordered. At the end, when the bill came, I was charged for a tall can of beer because, well, the manager just said that was easier for them. I was also charged for the salad on the side because , as it was explained to me, they delivered something different - it was a special kind of salad that they apparently thought I should have and pay more for. The food at the Sandbar was okay but it is the "customer last" philosophy that left a bad taste in my mouth. It is a combination of tasty food and quality service that makes a restaurant great. This place seems more interested in their own convenience than in creating a quality customer experience. Being your last day of the season is not a reason to serve customers poorly. If you're looking for okay food and a general sense of disinterest from the establishment - give this place a look. Otherwise, i feel certain Shediac has more to offer somewhere else.More

Great food with huge portions! Had to share the Seafood Chowder entree as well as the Seafood deluxe Platter - value for money! Go for these two as well as the Fried Clams!

Came with a party of 9, the one greeter was quite rude and even suggested we go to the other restaurant here. We drove here for lobster to find out they serve their lobster cold. This must be a NB thing…they lost 4 lobster orders...because of this. Would not recommend.More

The food was delicious. Some of the best seafood I have ever had. The wait staff were incredibly professional. They handled an obnoxious couple with patience and grace.

We went for dinner tonight with another couple. We got a table on the patio but the table was so small that I actually put my drink and the gigantic napkin holder on the floor beside me so I could fit my plate on the...table. The chairs are the cheap plastic patio chairs. It was 42° out today so my butt was just soaked sitting on those cheap chairs. The hostess that seated us seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else but there, like it was a big hardship to seat us. The waitress was the complete opposite - very nice, attentive and very cheerful. We started with the mussels which were absolutely delicious. My husband had the fried clams, which were good. I had the fish and chips. The French fries were hand cut and deep fried to perfection. The fish was a tiny piece of tasteless fish embedded in thick tasteless batter. The fish was awful. Don’t waste your money. All in allMore

We took a drive out to the wharf to go to The Sandbar since our daughter had never been there. It was a Tuesday and a storm was a brewin' so we thought there'd be no one there! Ha! There was a lineup outside and...as we watched the dark thunderheads get closer and closer we worried, but since we were just 3 in our group, and those ahead of us were in larger groups, we were called earlier - tip: Pay attention to the staff if they come out and yell for groups of 2 or 3! We got in just before the heavens let loose. We thought we might have some fine views of lightning but when the rain came down it really came down and we couldn't see much of anything! The servers were quick to close the doors to stop the rain from coming in and also quick to take orders. As full as the place was, the service was friendly and fast. We had a great time and the food was awesome. My husband is a clams and fries guy and he said they were quite good (always too much fries for clams in his opinion, but that's the way it is). Our daughter had the chicken nachos and loved them (we also did as it was too much for her to handle on her own!) I can't say no to fish tacos when they're on the menu so that was my fare, and it was very good as well. We didn't have room for dessert, and by the time we finished our dinner the rain had slowed considerably. We'll be back!More

This is a must when visiting Shediac. Sitting on the point du chêne wharf, it has an ocean view. Only open in the summer months. I had fish tacos and salad. Our group of 8 was served quickly. Good service as well. Note that there...is a $3 access charge for the wharf. Still worth your whileMore

Just happened upon this little restaurant that at the end of a wharf in New Brunswick. The restaurant was very clean and the staff very friendly. The view and atmosphere was great. It was fun to watch people jump of the wharf while eating. The...food was okay. I ordered a fish dish with shrimp and scallop with a crumb topping but found the fish salty and the dish very dry. I won’t ordered it again. The vegetables on the side were nicely cooked. My husband ordered the clams and chips and he was please. Overall it’s a nice restaurant and would definitely recommend it but I tried something else on the menu.More

In the area for not great reasons, sick dog needed to go to emergency animal hospital nearby, but had lunch at the Sandbar, where we haven't been since before Covid. Food is still awesome! The fish was perfectly cooked, love the light panko coating! Husband...had the burger, fantastic. Service was excellent, great food, cold beer, good way to destress while waiting on news about our dog. Thank you to the hardworking staff, very clean, clearly lots of Covid protections. Loved sitting on the quai again, we missed you Pointe du Chene!More

We had never been to the wharf in Pointe-Du-Chêne and decided on The Sandbar for supper with our two boys. We had a lovely meal and had a window seat overlooking the road. There are so many nice cars that visit the wharf that our...boys were in heaven watching them all. Our server was fantastic and so friendly. The meal was not only delicious but a very generous serving which is a perk when you have hungry boys! The sunset that night was gorgeous and I loved being able to walk through the restaurant to grab a quick picture. Would definitely return!More
