This place is awesome. It serves what I guess is Mexican street food -- delicious tacos (fish, beef, chicken, veg), burritos, etc. -- and it does what it does really well! If you're looking for 5-star dining (or even any star dining...) this is NOT the place for you. But if you want really good Mexican food, not fancy but... More

The food here is what might be of thought of as Mexican "street food." That would have potential to be tasty, satisfying and cheap, but this does not deliver any of it. The facility consists of what looks like a storage shed with a giant cow replica on top. There is a small covered table area with open windows in... More

Look for the cow adorning the rooftop of this unassuming space ...good, cheap tacos at an affordable price; excellent service ...what more can one want!

My wife and I consumed two take away dinners from this place last night. She had the tacos carnitas, I the costilla de puerco en salsa roja. Mine came with a salad. Maybe that was the problem. Raw vegetables. Many hours of intestinal distress later, I'm felling better. Now, I know my affliction could have derived from some other source,... More

Don’t let this hole in the wall, fast food place deceive you. I ordered three items: a torta, gordita, sope and they were all delicious! Even though you can do take out, eating right there would probably be just as good because the food and the salsas that accompany the meals can be tricky to eat, and you don’t want... More

We have driven past this place too many times to count and finally tried it. It is a shack-like place, with just a cook and and the person who takes orders (perhaps the owner) who helps the cook. This is real honest to goodness Mexican food, both for take out and eating there (about 4 picnic tables out front). The... More

Nothing says "Durham" like having Four Square across the street from Taqueria La Vaquita. Both are excellent for different reasons, but I'd take lunch at Taqueria any day over a dinner at Four Square. There are some great taquerias in this town, but most of them are around Roxboro St. If you are looking for something closer than Roxboro, this... More

The guacamole is made to order-chunky and spicy. I love the carne asada taco plate. It comes with 3 small flour tacos topped with crispy grilled meat. There is lime and a radish salad on the side to top them with. No need for sour cream or cheese! The salsa verde is my favorite. The wait staff is friendly and... More

Indeed, if the weather is rainy, cold or scorching-hot, this is not the most comfortable place to eat-in. Best at that point to go for take-out. I would advise going to the bathroom before going there. Be prepared to wait for a table during the busiest parts of the day. Also, make sure you have your GPS or Mapquest handy.... More

This is our now place to go for simple and tasty Mexican fare. We have eaten here several times and find the service to be gracious. The guacamole is made to order and is so chunky and tasty. I usually opt for the steak taco dinner and find the meat to be perfectly cooked and slightly crispy on the edges.... More
