Hubby brought me here for the first time. Food was amazing. I will be begging him to bring me back. The shrimp plate and sides I got were 100%!

It was worth the extra drive to get to it after a tiring 10 hour drive to get into town. Over the years and several trips I have had good BBQ in NC. This was the best. The chicken was falling off the bone with only a small effort. I also got green beans and squash. Both were excellent and... More

Okay, what does it tell you that when you drive from PA to NC to visit colleges, and you stop at the Backyard BBQ Pit for supper. Here we are, months and months later, and we still can't stop talking about the restaurant. Looks are definitely deceiving on this place, don't let it fool you. Southern hospitality combined with delicious... More

After we picked up our car rental in Raleigh, we were starving. As we were in the south, everyone wanted BBQ! We see this little place on the side of the road, trucks and cars parked alongside and in front. My son quickly pulls in, says this looks like the place! First off, I have to say the people working... More

I have reviewed this restaurant before and gave it rave reviews for its veggie plate where mac and cheese is a veggie! Well, for the first time I got the banana pudding and it simply is the BEST I have ever tasted. So, if you go, you must treat yourself to the banana pudding! I promise you will love it!

As others have said, you ain't coming for the building, parking lot or decor, but if you know anything about BBQ you can spot a great BBQ shack. The food is truly true. You can taste generations of people who know how to cook. The staff is top notch quick, friendly and folks that you want to know.

I don't care what you think about the building, the parking lot, the walls, or the tables. You go to a place like this for the food. The pulled pork is outstanding, and the mac and cheese is amazing. Sure, it is typical fare for a BBQ joint, but they know how to do it right.
