This restaurant has improved. We tried it when it first opened, were not very impressed, and did not come back for several years. We were pleasantly surprised to find the food had improved. We tried five small plates, potato&ham&cheese croquettes, calamari, sliced Serrano ham, churrasco, and stuffed peppers. All were good except the calamari, which was a little too thick... More

I went solo wanting Paella and because I was single could not get it. - You have to commit to two servings. I had their sangria, cannelloni, and tiramisu, which were divine. This is a restaurant that I wish my wife could have joined me.

This is a nice place to stop into before going to the theater in uptown Charlotte. Share several different Spanish tapas dishes and enjoy the dining experience.

My husband and I went before the symphony last night. Great walking distance to Belk Theater. The service was outstanding. The food was amazing tapas. The ravioli and chicken empanadas are not to be missed. Many vegetarian items as well as seafood items. The space is small so I would recommend reservations.

Had eight dishes and all were really good. The paella was incredible and worth the wait. Service is attentive and friendly. 7 is good time to go, the Pre theatre crowd is gone and the after theater crowd won't be there for a while

This place was hopping on a Saturday night, but still managed to fit us into their smallish dining area with a table for 5 at prime time dining hours. We did make a reservation a earlier that day, and I'd suggest doing so for any weekend night. The table was tight, but given not impossible and the tightness probably added... More

I've visited twice for lunch and my experiences were vastly different, except for the service. On my first visit, I ordered the Serrano sandwich. It was freshly sliced and had a very generous portion of fine ham. The flavors of the thin layer of tapanade accentuated the ham really made for a nice lunch sandwich at a reasonable price in... Malabar is located in the heart of uptown. The restaurant’s decor is modern and sleek, with a bar area next to an open area for diners and a mirrored wall. The lunch menu had an assortment of small plates, sandwiches, and salads. There was also a 2 course prix fix lunch option for under $15. I had the toasted ham... More

My wife and I tried Malabar recently and had a really great experience. We loved the croquettes and Iberian ham, as well as the tres leches dessert. The waitstaff was attentive and quick with refills. Parking uptown can be difficult, but there is a garage on the block.
