Rainy weeknight, no wait. Not too loud which allowed for conversation. Shared the she-crab soup as the only size is a larger bowl. Had sample of butternut squash soup in cute little cups. Tasted vaguely like curry. Had the grilled scallops with crispy penne. Food portions were good, not the typical obnoxious American sized portions. Friend had the mushroom risotto... More

My meal better than my wife. Server never smiled. Good wine and bourbon selections. Bread and butter good. She crab soup was ok. Could not finish tuna. Simply didnt suit my wife's palate. My venison and pancake appetizer was ok. Duck dish was excellent. Can't say don't try here. A lot of people love it.

Been to Elaine's before on several occasions and the food was always good but this visit it was very, very disappointing. The service was very spotty, we waited at least 15 minutes after being seated before a waiter stopped by to take our drink orders with no mention of the delay. The food was really off, just not good at... More

We went to Elaine's as part of the RSVVP charitable program. Delightful evening! The wine list ranges from quite reasonable to truly pricey. The waitress was attentive without being overbearing in the least. Dinner was well paced allowing us to delight in each course - oysters Rockefeller (yummy), blue cheese wedge salad (only so-so), and great entreees. The duck confit... More

The service, venue, and the food are always outstanding. The menu changes frequently allowing for fresh local food market. It's wise to make reservations as this is a popular restaurant.

We enjoyed our meal of Lobster and Pork Bell and one of Tuna Grilled. Service was very good, staff was most gracious and our experience was good; but we actually expected a little more. Good but not our favorite!

I have had mixed feelings about Elaine's in the past. Overpriced, small portions, spotty service. Last week a prix fixe menu got us to return and I am glad we did. We were seated at one of the window tables which was a nice start. The prix fixe menu had lots of choices. An app, entree and dessert was $35... More

This is my third review of Elaine's -- which seems a bit unnecessary -- but I feel repentant for ever doubting them. My last three meals have all been exceptional and last night's was no exception. We lucked out in that Elaine's was offering a week-long summer prix-fixe special that we were unaware of, but took advantage of. Three courses... More

We encountered some of the friendliest wait staff we have ever had at a restaurant. If you are looking for a high quality meal, this is a place to consider. The appetizers can be a meal unto themselves.

Elaine's is our favorite spot in Chapel Hill for both a romantic dinner and for festive family celebrations. The cocktails are amazing, made from really fresh ingredients, and by knowledgeable bartenders. The food equally well prepared. Wine list is spot on. The space is welcoming and kind of "Manhattan" cool. Brett is a very attentive chef, and he routinely greets... More
