I always have shrimp and grits when I'm in town so I've had my fair share of different styles. This one was one of the best I've had. Scallions, mushrooms and lots of shrimp made this particularly tasty. Service was a little slow and inattentive...More

Crooks in an institution and as we have lived here for over 30 years, it used to be almost the only place with character and good food in town. I love the building with it's old Pig on top and I love the funky garden...More

I ate here with friends on a recommendation from a coworker. A cold Saturday night, a not full restaurant and we got seated by the door, so every cold draft hit us dead on. We had the jalapeno hush puppies--could not tell there was jalapeno...More

I had them both. A classic Southern cocktail and the entre that made this place famous. Or, was it the art in the bathroom. Or the hustling waiter with the accent. Or the Carolina football game before the dinner. Or the Elvis on the bookshelf...More

Have had dinner there a few times....food is ok...menue changes with the season. We enjoy the outdoor courtyard seating and it's heated in colder months. Most of the food served is locally grown and raised in the area and served fresh daily.

Crooks Corner is an unpretentious jewel of a restaurant, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff, a creative Southern menu, and a laid back atmosphere. We go there often and always enjoy our meal!

I've been to Crook's Corner many times and have never been disappointed. It's awesome! Don't let the outside fool you (hub caps, tons of plants, folk artsy look), come on in or better yet make a reservation. You will not be disappointed. They have inside...More

As a 1990's UNC grad, Crook's was THE go-to place for good, upscale Southern food. My how times have changed. Don't bother. The Luck Plate proved unlucky indeed. The only bright spot was our wonderful server. But, not even he could redeem cold burgers. Who...More

Hi, Thank you for writing about this - we would love to have you eat at Crook's. Walk-ins are always welcome. Of course, on in-town football or basketball nights in Chapel Hill, we usually have lots of reservations, when the game times sync with dinners....More
