I have only had brunch here because I am a vegetarian and most of the lunch and dinner menus contain meat. But Brunch is great here! I've been here 3 times for Brunch and it is always good! Crook's Corner, although it doesn't look it from the outside, has deliciously cooked foods! Bill Smith, the owner and chef, stands out... More

Haven't been to Crook's Corner in years, but last night we gave it a try. The place was very busy but with a reservation we were seated immediately. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Four of us split an order of really good fired oysters and a pear & arrugula salad. Entrees were great: shrimp & grits, barbecue plate.... More

We ordered the artichoke and crab dip appetizer. Mostly melted cheese. The shrimp and grits, their signature dish, was overly spiced. Didn't taste anything like the original. We had to send it back and the replacement dish was just a spicy. Altogether a bad dining experience.

We stopped in on a recent Friday night and split a bunch of vegetarian side dishes. I must say, this place has slipped over the years and it's in need of a shakeup. Most of the dishes came out lukewarm and lacking flavor. The service was good and the atmosphere is the same fun as it always was. I came... More

Visiting from the north and loved this spot. The Shrimp and Grits were perfection. The Carolina Sampler gave us all we needed to be sold on Carolina cuisine. Will come again!

Sadly, Crook's is no longer a go-to restaurant of mine. The last 2 times I went, the service was terrible (and I don't usually judge service) and the food was mediocre. Even the classics (Hoppin John and pimento cheese plate) were only so-so. With so many other great places to eat in Chapel Hill, Durham, and Carrboro, Crook's is now... More

I went with a group of 7 friends and family and had a great time and awesome meal. They really took good care of us, made some great suggestions, and we were so thrilled. The star of the meal was the shrimp and grits which was laden with bacon, mushrooms, onions. A large portion indeed. We also had the mixed... More

Wa able to catch up with some former tv friends who made reservations here. Great food and we looooved sitting outside on the porch near the water fall. Their specialty is the shrimp and grits, but I had a hankerin' for oysters, okra and deviled eggs - all three of which are extinct in Wyoming. Loved the experience and food... More

Went with family (including two very active kids) on the recommendation of a foodie UNC alum. Inside seating looks kind of "classic diner", patio is more eclectic, including a salmon-run water feature the kids loved. The food lived up to its reputation. Again, I was glad to be with people who wanted to share. I won't get the names right,... More
