As a fun Valentine celebration, we hoped to enjoy a wonderful meal with our daughter after a day visiting University of North Carolina's beautiful campus. Hostess and servers were kindly and welcoming. There was a set 4 course menu for the romantic holiday, with several options per course. We were expecting these to be the most outstanding items in the... More

I was so excited to eat here after reading the fab reviews but what a disappointment. Before you think I'm some uninformed person who doesn't know good food, we've eaten at some exceptional restaurants in the U.S., Italy and South Africa. The choose your bruschetta (we tried 4 and cut them in half so we could taste as many as... More

Been here 3 or 4 times. Love the food, love the service! It's expensive but well worth it for a special occasion.

We had a great date dinner here. We live in town and have always discounted Il Palio. Too bad we waited so long to experience the knowledgeable staff, outstanding food, and the romance setting. I had the gluten free crab pasta and it was awesome. The pasta was the best gf pasta I have ever had. Husband had the steak.... More

Il Palio is objectively one of the best expressions of genuine Italian cuisine in NC, period. Italian regional recipes are paired with great Italian wines, the quality of the ingredients and the wines is top level. Staff is extremely nice and welcoming. We love to go to the themed dinners like the truffle ones and the ones with the wine... More

We came here for the special truffle dinner and it was wonderful- deserving of five stars. My husband's braised beef was one of the best beef dishes he's ever eaten. Other excellent offerings in the past have been their wood fired sea bass and sides. A year ago we were disappointed in their pasta dishes- the two we tried were... More

Visited for the first time last night. What a great experience! Highly recommend the Prosciutto de Parma and the crab Pici. The desserts were only good, which was a little disappointing after the stellar quality of the rest of the meal. Very pleased and will definitely return.

We stayed at the hotel and had dinner and breakfast. The dinner was extremely well prepared, with many innovative touches. The chef was quite good and came by as we finished. I have eaten here many times over the past 10 years, and it always is excellent.
