We stayed at the hotel and had dinner and breakfast. The dinner was extremely well prepared, with many innovative touches. The chef was quite good and came by as we finished. I have eaten here many times over the past 10 years, and it always is excellent.

I chose Il Palio for our Thanksgiving meal this year, partly because they had added turkey to their choices for the entree in their Prix Fixe ($68) dinner. We arrived and were seated in a room where the tables had no tablecloths, runners, or placemats -- hardly the ambience one expects at a 4-diamond restaurant for a prix fixe dinner.... More

We've occasionally dined here over the past 20 years, including special events like a beer dinner, and have come to expect great food and good service. We recently returned especially for a fundraiser benefiting earthquake-ravaged areas of Italy. They were donating proceeds to charity and even cooking some regional specialties not on their regular menu. The quality of the food... More

The chef at Il Palio is inventive while honoring tradition. We have enjoyed this restaurant on several occasions, and consider it one of the most outstanding in Chapel Hill. The cuisine is Northern Italian with an American flair. On our most recent visit we enjoyed a roasted chestnut/duck soup, followed by splendid beef tournedos, finishing with a ginger gelato. For... What an exquisite dining experience! My husband and I recently ate here while staying at the Siena Hotel for the weekend. From start to finish, the food and service were fabulous. Massimo was wonderful! Can't wait to get back there again soon.

We had planned dinner at Il Palio, based on recs. from the Concierge at Fearrington Inn, but had to change plans (common thread on this trip), but did stop in for a few glasses of wine. Located in the Siena Hotel, the bar/restaurant is very nice, the wine list very good, albeit a bit small, and service was great. One... More

My fiancee's children and I decided that we were going to make their mother's 50th birthday a night to remember, complete with limo, boutique hotel, a private shopping spree etc. We knew the meal would be the centerpiece of the evening, and looked at a number of restaurants before deciding on Il Palio.. The restaurant manager was the real “selling... More

We had three breakfasts in a row here. Great ambiance. Comfy seating in high backed banquettes.Small earthen pots with fresh rosemary. The breakfast menu was awesome! They had avocado bruschetta, ricotta cheese pancakes, brioche french toast, and decadent salmon benedict.Service with a smile. Background music featured Frank Sinatra singing classics like Volare. Did not try the bar but it looked great... More
