My business partner was in town and we decided to hit up the Heron for drinks and business. I cannot tell how perfect this place is for casual business meetings. The staff is always accomodating and attentive, live harp music banging out Santana of all things (beautiful) and a great selection of hand crafted cocktails and assorted drinks, snacks, etc.... Heron's, housed in the 5 Star Umstead Hotel, is a superb restaurant with impecable service. We have been there for lunch and brunch several times. The service has always been top notch, and the food is delightfully prepared, and pleasing to the eye. The Umstead Hotel is beautiful to walk around, and occasionally has art exibitions to view after your... More

I would highly recommend Heron's for the brunch. It was recommended by friends and they were spot on. We had the veggie omelet with fresh berries and toast as well as the basics with eggs, bacon, grits, etc. It was a terrific start to our Saturday after sleeping in.

Heron's is known in the area for its outstanding cuisine. After experiencing their incredible brunch, I can attest that the reputation is richly deserved. We indulged in several dishes including the shrimp and grits, French toast, pancakes, and omelets. Everything without exception was a culinary delight. The service and surroundings are extraordinary. Treat yourself to a Heron's visit.

This was the closest dining experience I have had to a Michelin star restaurant in the US. The service was amazing, the presentation of the food was specular and it tasted just as wonder as it looked. My wife and I went here for a romantic dinner and we look forward to the next time.

It was delicious! We had a nice, comfortable table, pretty view and great service! We had the soup and grilled pimento cheese. We should have split one sandwich - it was huge - and absolutely delicious! Nice casual atmosphere. Several things on the menu we'd like to go back and try.

Heron's is such a lovely eatery and the food is exquisite. When I travel down for work trainings, I like to indulge in the chef's menu, which changes seasonally. This was what was served to me the last evening I visited and the grade I've assigned, from A to F. The key takeaway here is that you should take a... More

Luxe, plush, impeccable food and service. Upscale and Exclusive is how they make you feel. Food is what you would expect from a fine dining establishment on this level. Definitely worth the experience.

Great choice for our anniversary dinner. Food and service were superb. A little pricey except for that special occasion but a dinner to remember.

Took the family to Sunday Brunch at Herons. We did not want a buffet and the brunch there is ala carte. I had poached eggs Benedict served over crab cakes on top of ham on an English muffin ($17) that was perfect. My son sitting next to me had the Steak and Eggs ($18) and asked for his steak medium-rare.... More
