Took friends for lunch. Cous cous salad was dry and sliders were overcooked with the exception of the crab ones which were nice.

We stopped overnight in Whitianga and selected salt for dinner. It's modern, open plan restaurant and bar on the ground floor of Whitianga Hotel, and overlooks the marina and anchorage, making for an attractive setting, with some tables outside. It was a Sunday evening so not very busy, though the presence of several large parties provided some atmosphere. It would... More

We enjoyed the good food with a nice selection of entrees to choose from. Liked it very much so we got back the second evening to go for a main plate. Had lovely fish of the day and a perfectly cooked fillet.

We absolutely loved our meal! We ordered off the entree menu and shared. The highlights were the carpaccio and the oysters. The desserts were fabulous and the service was excellent! This rates as one of the best meals we've eaten in New Zealand.

We went to Salt Restaurant on Saturday night, we made our order and waited for a long time before the waiter told us he had made a mistake and accidentally hadn't put our order through. He made it up to us by giving us free drinks and we didn't really mind as he was really apologetic. There were lots of... More

Went to Salt bar last night. They were full but said we could have seat at a bar table. We found a very good table close the fire place. We said we would happy to have our meal there. They assured us this was fine and gave us some water. Then never returned. Not even with a menu or drinks... More

Salt advertises itself as offering 'fine dining' and certainly the presentation of both facility and food was good. There is a bar and restaurant with in- and out-door seating facing a pretty little marina and harbour. We were seated inside in a curious way with one of us facing the back wall; with a little more thought the table could... More

8 of us booked (a must) for dinner on Saturday night, ages ranged from early 20's to mid eighties. We were served by slightly timid but very polite staff member who over the course of the evening was attentive, friendly and efficient. We started with a range of breads and followed with mains with the view that we may have... More

We popped in for a snack and a drink in that tricky time between 4-6. Welcoming and friendly service. Good selection of bar snacks. We sat admiring the sun going down across the water and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. We had the fries - huge, delicious and filling and the pulled pork - generous portion - easily split 4 ways.

A lovely venue with lots of entertaining areas, staff were attentive albeit prompted by the bar/restaurant manager, service was reasonable however, when it comes to food it was a little bit of a let down.... all went well with starters and entree however when it came to the main despite the meat being spot on I can't excuse sides that...
