Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So I stopped by this place late Friday night. I went in to get a shot and 2 beers, which usually cost me around $7-$9 usd, depending on the bar. I got a beer to go, which would put my bill up around $10-$12. The...barkeep showed me the bill, which is about right. However, the next day when I checked my bank account, I was charged $26! I know I am a tourist, and locals like to rip off the tourist, so beware. Check the bill and double check the receipt, which I didn't do.More

Livingstone is an amazing place at the beach. We spent almost every day here. You can sit in the shade and enjoy the surrounding, live music and sunset. People are very kind and helpful, you feel welcome. Especially when we came more often, they recognized...us. The food is freshly made and the taste is very good. We would definitely recommend this place!More

We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine rosé from South Africa, but it was made in Ukraine. Difficult to understand. It tasted terrible. The first course was ok. For the main course we ordered 4 times the grilled lobster, but they only had 1 grilled...lobster. They proposed the cigale at the same price, which is totally unfair. Last but not least, the music was too loud and we couldn’t even speak to each other. Good to finish the end year with a headache. Therefore we decided to leave the restaurant before mid night and having a last drink in the Hyatt hotel with good music vibes.More

There were more staff that customers, and it still took a while to be served. The employees were not interested in working that day. Also, considering the cost of my curry meal, I should have received more. Your competitors give more, and I would not...recommend.More

Loved the atmosphere, we spent some times in Stone Town and the Livingstone’s Restaurant made us feeling totally relaxed. Good food, good service and fantastic atmosphere. Sitting on the beach in barefoot with a live music as soundtrack and tasting good food is a must...to end a busy day in this fantastic island. Thanks to Luigi and to his amazing staff.More

This has so much potential. Interesting old building, nice spot on the beach under trees, location. But the food service is so incredibly slow that by the time it came I was no longer hungry and it felt too late to eat. 95 minutes for...pasta, salad and a wrap. They were fine but nothing special. Cash only which seems unusual in Stonetown now. Sadly therefore I wouldn't recommend.More

This is a perfect place to enjoy the sunset in Stone Town while having a drink. Their terrace is directly on the sand, and you can see how the beach boils with activity between 18h and 20h. Their cocktails are very nice, but the food...is a bit expensive for the amount. I would rather recommend it to have a drink and relax.More

Livingstone's is probably not a fine dining restaurant, but it's sea views, tables in the sand on the beach and historic interior make it worth a visit. We had dinner here and then returned for (numerous) beers one afternoon during some persistent rain. The menu...was nothing very special and my chicken felt a bit 'warmed up', plus some of the more exotic items on the menu were not available, but honestly for a simple meal it is a lovely place to eat, and certainly good for some drinks.More

me and my family ate at this restaurant on the beach, very nice atmosphere with the sunset and a local group playing african music, delicious food.. we ordered salads and in particular my Cesar salad was really good. Unfortunately when we went to pay, even...though we had asked before eating if we could pay by card (since it was the last day and we no longer had cash), they told us that the system was broken 😒 after a while that we insisted they said ok to pay with card, and they typed in the price... but the wrong one! They added 16€ more than what was written on the bill... unfortunately I didn't have time to realize that I had already confirmed the pin code, and the owner shrugged his shoulders when I told him that the price was wrong....so we paid our dinner 16€ more, that was not a big problem but the way the owner treated us was really bad, all the waiters by the way pwere really nice with us.More
