Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

me and my family ate at this restaurant on the beach, very nice atmosphere with the sunset and a local group playing african music, delicious food.. we ordered salads and in particular my Cesar salad was really good. Unfortunately when we went to pay, even...though we had asked before eating if we could pay by card (since it was the last day and we no longer had cash), they told us that the system was broken 😒 after a while that we insisted they said ok to pay with card, and they typed in the price... but the wrong one! They added 16€ more than what was written on the bill... unfortunately I didn't have time to realize that I had already confirmed the pin code, and the owner shrugged his shoulders when I told him that the price was wrong....so we paid our dinner 16€ more, that was not a big problem but the way the owner treated us was really bad, all the waiters by the way pwere really nice with us.More

We lived the night at this place. Beautiful dinner at the beach, feeling the sand on your feet while feeling the see with a local beer. Live music. We listen to the music, danced, meet local and travel people with an open spirit. It was my...birthday and they dedícated me some song and made me feel happy. Unforgetable experience!!More

Since 2010 we visit our favorite bar/restaurant in Stonetown, Livingstone's! In the morning we enjoy the best Coffee from Zanzibar, a double espresso! After some sightseeing we return for a cold beverage in the shade of the big almond tree, enjoying te vivid scenery. Its...a constant proces between servers & potential byers of sunglasses, t-shirts, cigarettes etc. On top of that aconstant movement of tourists in groops, pairs or alone, being dragged to and from the small boattaxi's to Prison Island. What is better than sitting in the shade with your feet in the sand sipping an icecold Serengetti, Kilimanjaro or Safari beer....? At lunchtime, you can order from the menue and might have to revise your choice: sorry no more beefwrap, but we still have chicken....? I love this Island, these people and this place in particular! Last night we also enjoyed diner here and the giant shrimps with vegetables were excellent, although it took some time to catch and Cook them 😉 But the result was worthwhile waiting for....!!!! I just realise that we enjoyed Livingstone's 5 times in the last two days and we will be back again, maybe next year! Hakuna Matata!More

Nice beach bar to chill in stonetown. Very beautiful place to sit under the trees! Drinks are a little expensive for zanzibar but the manager Sos was very helpful when we needed to organise a birthday cake. The cake the chefs made was delicious and...very reasonably priced! They also changed GBP to TSH cash for us which we really appreciated. The rates at their desk are decent 👍More

Don't go here if you value any of the following: your time, your wallet, your taste buds or your stomach! I went here with my family, we arrived at around 18. We were surprised to be waiting for half an hour before even being able...to order, and then waiting an additional half hour to be served drinks. It took over 2 hours from when we sat down to when we got our food! 150 minutes to prepare a starter comprising of four pieces of bread and some tzatziki sauce. Once my food arrived (seafood medley) it was burnt, cold in places and warm in others. I guess their model is to starve their clients and once they're served terrible food they wolf it down with complete disregard to the quality of what's being served. To top this off, my brother (who had a club sandwich) is puking his guts out as we speak and we can with confidence say that this restaurants food was the cause. Add a 300$ price tag for the dinner to this and I can with absolute certainty say that this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've been through.More

The great location made us want to try it. Then we waited for the food for over 2h… Got watery and schetchy drinks and the night ended with food poisoning. A place to avoid.

Waiting for 2 hours for our food, which was terrible food at the end. The beer was not cold and somebody needs to teach the barman to prepare some basic drinks. Overpriced for what it was.

If you have any other choice, any, take it! The food took at least two hours - including simple club sandwiches for the kids - and when it arrived it was cold and inedible! The seafood medley was just pitiful. Not to mention the steep...price and the ridiculous 5% commission when paying by card.More

We had returned from a Dhow Boat cruise and had a hungry dinner. This restaurant is right on the beach so it was a perfect location. It didn't seem too busy but the service was on the slow side. It took a while to get...acknowledged and get menus etc. However once we'd ordered the food was very good. We weren't looking for a late night, so we opted for mains and drinks and that's it. It was reasonably priced and everyone was happy with their meal. It's a great setting overlooking the sea too.More

Unwelcome, unfriendly and not smiling staff from the moment you enter restaurant. Food is untasty (had avocado salad) and a soggy burger. The worst is alcohol. 2x glasses of wine came watery. THEY CHEAT ON YOU AND ADD WATER TO ALCOHOL. Read other reviews on...same. Unprofessional waiter requested payment without providing the bill- we turned him back to the cash desk. Avoid this place; its waste of money and ruins your experience. There are far better places in Stone Town.More

Mezes are good and the beer and wine are cold. A nice place to sit outdoors under a shady tree and look out at the ships and boats. A good people-watching spot, if you can ignore the ever-present hawkers that are everywhere. We watched some...sort of military group by the waters edge marking some sort of an occasion or ceremony , as well as local kids and families getting on and off commuter boats. And of course tourists coming from and going to excursions. All in all a good spot for watching the world go by.More

I’d bring friend yesterday to my favorite place in Stonetown…. since I was coming first time in Zanzibar… 2/3 years ago. Surprised that was empty at sunset time, anyway I realized why! They probably changed owner because the prices almost doubled 😰 One beer 5...usd! But the worst is that the quality went down…. One fresh juice of fruit that now costs 7.500 Tzs ….. it’s half juice and half water….. The atmosphere lost….More
