We did not enjoy our lunch at Mercury. The service was slow and the food was lackluster. The best thing about it was the cold drinks and the breeze.

A couple of records and names on the wall, and George Michael played. Not so much mercury or queen, but nice place with ok drinks, a bit expensive.

We found the food and drink overpriced in this very basic restaurant. Overlooking the beach which was littered with plastic bottles and refuse. Beachboys plying their trade and seemingly oblivious to the rubbish all around. Can't imagine Freddy wanting to eat here.

Yes, this place is famous but the service and menu leaves much to be desired. When we mentioned coming here to a local, she was somewhat appalled by our decision, she thought it was overpriced and a tourist-trap. But we came for just a drink and to watch the sunset and action on the beach as well as snap a... More

Meh, for an iconic restaurant it was lacklustre. Great for viewing the sunset but that's about it. They were out of many options on the menu which was kind of annoying after the third time I ordered, especially when the second order was just a dessert and they were out of banana (which you can buy across the street). Slow... More

Visited Mercury's while in Stone Town, found the menu to be limited and the food very disappointing. We ordered spaghetti bolognese and garlic pizza. While the pizza was nice, however not particular flavorsome, the pasta was glued together and not much bolognese which tasted more like a curry than an Italian cuisine. Service was poor and very slow despite there... More

We called in here on a day trip to Stone Town, probably attracted in by the name, as many others obviously were too! The food was reasonable but the service very poor and there just didn't seem to be enough staff to look after all the customers. To be fair, the price of both food and drinks were reasonable, but... During everyone's stay in Zanzibar, thoughts run through the mind of 'I must go to Mercury's'. But this marketing ploy is based on maximising the name of the prodigal son without offering too much substance. As most people know, Freddie Mercury's birth and childhood was on the island. So the ingenious idea of making money from the name proved too... More
