It is a small restaurant but with a friendly staff and very good food at a fair price. We stopped after a tour at the Beckman farm for lunch on a cold day and had hot tea and great sandwiches, and then topped it off with carrot cake for dessert. Food was served hot and relatively quickly, but it was... More

This place just isn't very clean. We're not obsessed about cleanliness and have happily eaten in many a dive. But this was just plain off putting. Dirty bathroom. Dirty silverware, with food stuck on. Opened, unrefrigerated salad dressing, which our server shook up with his finger. Food spots all over the menu. And the servers clothes. The Mac and Blaak... The most wonderful turkey sandwiches, and soups. Good coffee, wonderful staff and owner is always a big help with information about the town. We love this place.

The carrot cake was wonderful, have never had one before that was this outstanding. The corn chowder was excellent. The carrot ginger soup was just okay. The turkey sandwich was good... could have used a piece of lettuce or other greenery to jazz it up.

My wife and I recently had lunch at the Black Cat Cafe, our visit was delightful. I had a BLT which sent my taste buds flying. In addition to the BLT I also had macaroni and cheese made with the blackened cheese and for dessert bread pudding. The pudding was a very generous portion and is right out of this... More

The curry chicken salad was good, but could have used a little more seasoning, even a pinch of salt would have helped and some more mayonnaise. The chunks of chicken were too large for me, but others might like that. Others in my group had coffees and said they were good. The Mocha, mousse cake was fabulous. The bottom layer... More

Visited this lovely and slowly renewing spring resort town at the Black Cat for lunch and found a very hospitable host and casual atmosphere. Chose the Ruben, made on toasted homemade rye, with just the right amount of high quality corned beef, fresh sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing, my partner had the half corned beef sandwich / soup combo.... The food here was excellent. Fresh ingredients that are made in house or locally! You get what you pay with the quality food and portion size! I had the Thanksgiving Everyday sandwich and Mac and cheese. The homemade bread and moist turkey made for an amazing sandwich! The Mac and cheese with locally made goat cheese was the best I've... I just don't get this place. I've eaten here many times (I don't give up) and it usually misses the mark. I REALLY want it to be good. The menu is really appealing with a variety of options. But, invariably, something makes it a less than great visit. Often, it is the service. The young women appear to be well-meaning.... More
