The food was really great as always. My wife and I sat downstairs in the wine room for Valentine's Day which was a mistake. The wait staff downstairs was the B team and we were not happy with the service. Go anytime other than special dinning out days but if you do go on those special days you must eat... More

Il Mulino has been my favorite Italian restaurant on Long Island for several years now. It is like being in Rome with it style, service, menu, and taste. Each year my family knows to bring me here for my birthday so that I am guaranteed to be a happy camper, and I am. What I like is the traditional style... More

Excellent cuisine from antipasti to desserts (optimum variety, taste, warmth, portion). Service attentive and efficient but discrete. Intimate ambiance, warm with class but not pretentious. Would have been nicer to have a choice of whole grain bread, a wider price range in the wine list, chanterelles in the wild mushrooms, a more interesting side accompaniment with Bronzino rather than two... Just returned from Il Mulino where we celebrated our anniversary. Everything was perfect, starting with the attentive service and the myriad of breads and complementary appetizers. The eggplant rolentini was the best we ever had and the bufffalo mozzarella and tomato with basil was fresh and delicious. The salmon with porcini mushrooms and broccoli rabe was perfectly prepared. The combination... More

Very dark , good food. Gave us worst table in house ( by the kitchen). Had reservations 72 hrs in advance. Still tolerable . What was intolerable was that despite the three of us averaging (with tip) over $110/pp. we were charged for extra cheese and extra bread twice ( yes we are bread eaters). And they did nickel and... Anyone who has been to Italy and enjoyed the extended meal of dining Italian style will enjoy Il Mulino. The food, wine and cocktails are fabulous. You could order veal, fish or pasta and never be disappointed. I particularity enjoy the fish here at the restaurant. Whatever is fresh that day from branzino to swordfish and anything in between. I... More

Let me preface this by saying that when you ignore everything else, the food was just about average. Nothing to marvel at, but nothing too bad either. Unfortunately, if you're paying $40+ for a main you want a little more than 'just about average'. We went here with friends (party of 5) and all of us were disappointed by both... More

As others have stated, the dining room is dark and perhaps too dark -- it is not romantic. The food is good to very good, but not fabulous. Service is satisfactory. Prices are on the high side and I was not pleased to find a separate category on the bill for the waiter's tip and a separate tip for the... More

Let me start with the dining area: modest but very nice and neat. Staff: Superb...helpful....doting....Italian spoken by all....and the attire is white tie and felt very roaring 1920s swank! Loved every bit of the staff and their super efficient service! Lots of care in the way the treated us! Layers of courses brought and served with precision...and the Capitano brought... More

The restaurant is so dark you cannot read the menu unless you use a flashlight from your iPhone. No bread on the table,You are offered a variety of bread by a server. No oil to dip it in and no butter is offered. Just dry bread. Another server brought over a few pieces of soppresata and grilled zucchini dripping in... More
