It’s an interesting location: a New Orleans-worthy adventure to get there, park or even find the entrance (though I did not feel the Big Easy charm doing these in our freezing weather). Yet the trip is worth it, and the experience is getting better the...closer you get to the music. Decent thematic deco indoors (though the lower level looks more like a meeting place than a restaurant). Great live music upstairs in style. And then what we came for: Very good and fairly affordable Cajun food. The po-boys are fantastic and cheap, the sides are large and also very good. The crawfish and even the rice was remarkably well prepared. The drinks are also tasty, strong, and very reasonably priced. Why only four stars? Other than the getting-there and parking (no directions to the restaurant and big signs at every lot that you will be towed), there are some unforced errors: for example there is no menu (rather there is a clumsy sticker on the back of the drink menu asking us to log in to the website to see the menu; this is worse than QR coding us); nice china dishes, yet only plastic ware; and kind but very hesitant service throughout. Yet, overall it was a great dinner. We hope to be back.More
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary dinner at The French Quarter. I absolutely love Cajun food and TFQ did not disappoint. I had the shrimp creole and fried okra, both were delicious. The staff were very kind and efficient. I highly recommend.
We found this restaurant by accident. It's tucked away but very convenient to everywhere. The atmosphere is perfect, the menu has a variety of choices. We started with Crawfish Boudin Balls and Gumbo. Both were superb. Our entrees included Jambalaya with Shrimp, crawfish etouffee and...a Chicken Poboy. The food came out steaming hot and was obviously freshly prepared. The flavors were genuine. The portions large. We loved everything about The French Quarter. The staff was super friendly and efficient. We can't wait to return.More
They prepare plain sandwiches and then refused to cancel them. They called to say they had no toppings and then refused to cancel the sandwich
After going to New Orleans I craved their creole soul food. Then we stumbled across this restaurant, right in the city. Their food tasted JUST like what we had in New Orleans. So delicious and the staff is very friendly. Not to mention the gorgeous...old victorian house setting...More
Had great time with the music, food and weather. Love the cajun cooking. Enjoyed Coops restaurant in the french quarter. Stayed in business district.
This is Rochester, New York’s “Best Kept Secret!” I used to eat here when they first opened on Arnett Boulevard then I didn’t know what happened to them. So glad I’ve found them again..... If in Rochester please give your tastebuds a treat they’ll thank...you for over and over again.More
Last Thursday was my 5th time at the French Quarter, and as always the food was amazing. The service is rather slow and last time it took almost 2 hours for the whole dinner; but the wait is worth it. The Sweet Potato Casserole is...a must, just like the gumbo.More
This creole restaurant is tucked away yet in the heart of downtown. Our experience was very different from the reviews I previewed when picking a place to eat. Our server, Mark, was happy, upbeat and very attentive. Our service was prompt and food came out...of the kitchen in appropriate time. Our food was excellent and as mentioned, so was the service. The atmosphere was quite comfortable. My only criticism was that on a Saturday night they open at 3pm, but no bartender until 6:30pm. Our 5:30 pm reservation meant very limited drink choices. I think that is crazy as it is the cream of restaurant profit.More
Went here Saturday night with 2 other couples, place wasn't packed to the gills as I think they sometimes have live music on a Saturday night but not this night. Our waitress said they just hired a new bar manager for the upstairs bar so...hopefully they'll start having music on Saturday nights. Our server Bri was polite but fairly new, she wasn't sure what kind of vodka they had. Food came out sporadically but that was OK. Gumbo was amazing and the blackened catfish outstanding. Decent selection of beer, not so much on the wine side. Def be back.More
Went for the first time last Saturday and we were not disappointed! So great to have something different in Rochester. We shared several dishes and each was excellent, just so flavorful. All at a more than reasonable price. Can't wait to go back.
Our server suggested I order the Fettuccini with shrimp instead of prawns and I did and it was so delish! I had Boudin balls as an appetizer and they were good. But! The highlight of the evening were the Beignet. I want to go back...and have just the beignet with coffee! A little taste of Cajun Heaven. Thank you. And by the way, our server was just a lovely and attentive young man. My son is the GM of Morton's Steak House and I know great service and this fellow was among the best,More
We thought the food was very good but very slow night. The people were nice enough and seemed like good turn out for the restaurant.
Great service and awesome value. I had the red gumbo which was full of pork, shrimp, and sausage. Broth was tasty not spicy at all... but you could add some hot sauce. My daughter had shrimp creole which was spicy but a little too sweet....We. We were too full for dessert but other tables had it and it looked good. I would recommend to anyone who wants a warm meal.More
