This is the resurrection of the restaurant that burned down several years ago. The food is of the same high caliber, but the atmosphere is somewhat sterile and rather noisy. Great place for family with noisy children.

Nice local place, friendly, good service, lovely touches like free appetizers, but, good, not great, food. The fish was fresh, but not much of it. Everything was OK, but lacked "zip".

If you want a fancy Americanized restaurant with designer rolls and a 10-page menu, look somewhere else. Yamaguchi is for people who want excellent sushi, sashimi and cooked foods like katsu, negamyaki, tempura and teriyaki steak, fish or chicken. The decor is simple, but are you there for the food or the furniture? It's true that the regulars get special... More

This has been a regular place for our family for years. We've gotten to know Mrs Yamaguchi, the owner, who greets is warmly at every visit. She's a lovely person. Her husband is a sushi chef and the food is well prepared and fresh. They suffered a fire a few years ago but are reopened in new location on the... More

Miss Yamaguchi and her staff provide the ultimate in small town intimate service. This is a Local establishment where the patrons are often no less than 50% Japanese. Being a regular is a must. You are often treated to complimentary edamane and potentially other appetizer treats. Mr. Yamaguchi is the head sushi chef and takes care that the quality control... More

The new dining room for the restaurant looks like a cafeteria, and the service is slow now, especially on weekends. However, sushi and sashimi are still reliably good, albeit pricy. But then, you get what you pay for. This is still my first choice restaurant for sushi In this area of Long Island.

We went on a Sunday night (a little after 7) and it was packed. We were quickly seated though. Everything was great - from the food to the service! The portions left us satisfied and not stuffed, which is always good! Definitely recommend the red bean ice cream! The restaurant and also kid friendly.

Welcome back to the business! Everyone is aware how I feel about Japanese food. It's my number one best preferred food in the world. If I knew the skills of Master Japanese Chefs, I would make my own sashimi but unfortunately, to enjoy sashimi it needs to come from the top master chef, the most difficult techniques to master. As... More

Being new to the area and a being a fan of sushi, I had heard of the legend of Yamaguchi. So it was with no pre existing experiences (but talked up expectations) when I visited. So I understand their original place was damaged in a fire and they have a new address a little bit down the block. My visit... More

I used to love going to Yamaguchi, but then they had a fire and I moved out of the area. When I was home my family went out to the new Yamaguchi restaurant. We walked in and it was not as I expected. The lights were so bright, glaring even, feeling like school fluorescent lights. The place was so chilly... More
