Having a horrible experience at the Ausable Inn, AGAIN, we headed up the hill the Dave's. This is a true Adirondack legend. Clean, great food and the people are fantastic. If your hiking in the high peaks, don't even bother stopping anywhere in the Valley. Years ago I would have included The Elm Tree Inn and The Spread Eagle. Now... More

This is a rustic place, with hearty fare, and an out in the middle of nowhere setting with a lovely view - it's great, and reflective of an Adirondack experience, for sure. Soups, sandwiches, burgers, and dinner entrees on the menu all seem simple and reasonably priced. The burger (very big) and turkey rueben at our table were both very... More

Food is ok but very pricey for a tavern out in no mans land. Ravoli's looked like frozen and they were $20.00. The hambuger was very expensive and not great. I think they need to revamp the menu.

Not bad - not great. American-style food at mid-range prices. Bar and restaurant. Plenty of parking.

This is the place to go after you've worked up an appetite climbing one of the nearby peaks. The service and the regulars are always friendly; the food always good; the selection of on tap beer and ale short but well-rounded.

We love this place. Have eaten there three times and each did not disappoint. We would recommend eating dinner outside as the sunsets. During the summer or in the fall this is a can't miss opportunity.

I had heard that the "Purdy Burger", an onion-and cheese-topped hamburger formerly served at Monty's Elm Tree Inn (closed around 2004), could be had here, so I stopped in to find out for myself. It was indeed, and along with a pint of a good local brew I was able to satisfy my curiosity as well as hunger. The burger... More

While vacationing in Lake Placid, my wife and I stumbled upon Baxter MountainTavern. On a hiking trail website to Baxter Mt., the pitch-off directions stated that "if you reach Baxter Mt.Tavern, you've gone too far". The tavern is less than a quarter mile from the trail-head. We sat on their side deck and the view provided a beautiful mountain scene.... More
