We had a perfect evening at the clay oven last night. A friendly welcome gave us the option to sit outside on the large deck or inside the restaurant,.We chose to sit on the dimly lit deck giving a beautiful atmosphere.Complimentary poppadoms and dip trays whilst choosing. Professional service, large selection of curry main and starters, cooked to your personal... More

Nice atmosphere with lovely entrance. Food didn't take too long to arrive, and the waiters were very attentive. The food was tasty, and not too spicy. We decided to go as we saw a large advert for it at the airport, although didn't realise it was a fair drive away.

We visited this restaurant on New Years Day and it was quite quiet as it had been booked out the previous night for the NYE celebrations. It was nice to have a choice of where to sit and the garden is particularly pretty and looks very colonial with the white chairs and table cloths (there is also indoor seating with... More

Had a lovely meal here while staying at nearby Ngala Lodge (15 minutes’ walk at most). Unfortunately the lovely garden/courtyard section was closed for maintenance so we had to sit inside which was pleasantly air-conditioned but otherwise a little bit impersonal. The staff were lovely, though, and the manager came to chat to us to make sure we were enjoying... More

Really really slow service. We had to wait 15 minutes for them to take our order. I can accept them taking long to cook food. Very limited choice of vegetarian options.

This restaurant is probably the best one I have visited in The Gambia. I dined here with 20 colleagues from the UK and we all agreed we would definitely visit should we return to this beautiful country again! We received a very warm welcome by friendly and attentive staff. All dishes were served hot and beautifully presented. The shrimps in... More

Description
The Clay Oven has been open for 24 years, established in 1991 by Vimal Shah. The restaurant has two menu's, a well established Indian menu and a recently well tried Chinese menu.

The Clay Oven takes pride in quality and excellence. There is a large dining area with a semi circular bar, and an outdoor dining area on a wooden deck surrounded by a palm garden and bar. All making a great ambience to dine in under the stars.

"Our own belief is that a truly fine meal is enjoyed not once but three times - in anticipation, in consumption and in remembrance."
