Visited this pub mid week with a walking group. This is a long established unpretentious country pub. The names of previous owners spanning several centuries adorn the walls. We were made welcome and a table had been prepared for us as I had advised them in advance. I had the daily special which was a gammon steak. The portion was... More

We recently stopped for lunch at this old pub to try it out for the future. The staff were very welcoming and the ambience was very convivial. Liked the fact that the pub felt well lived-in and that they hadn't attempted a gastro-pub renovation. Food was all very good and freshly cooked. We will definitely be coming here again!

Took ages to get served. We had booked for 2 30. Ate at 3 45. They were pleasant about it but it still messed up our day a bit. Having said that it's a nice pub.

Not this time. Will put it down to a bad day in the kitchen. Had to wait nearly an hour for food, mostly just roasts. Roast was tough, over-cooked, dry, and only a single slice.

Booked for a Saturday night to attend a 50th birthday party locally. Loved our stay - it proved a charming, cosy and impeccably presented home from home with a warm welcome from staff and lamas alike.

Very friendly welcome when we arrived and excellent beer. Have been here a times after walking around Hascombe Arboretum and always enjoy the visit. Perhaps a disproportionately large restaurant area as only a few tables in bar area and laid out area less welcoming

Booked this on a whim and had a lovely night away with my other half. Pub is lovely and rustic and seems very popular with the locals but equally make guests welcome. It was quite chilly when we went and there was a gorgeous roaring fire to enjoy a bottle of wine next to. Food was excellent well worth the... More

Stayed here for a night after a long drive, and greeted by a great host and a lovely pub. Steeped in history and very quirky, loved it! Stayed in one of the Cabins and it was great, fairly small but everything you need. Very soft mattress (not to everyone's taste), thick duvet and very comfortable, however my wife found it... More

Had lunch there after a visit to the relatively nearby Winkworth arboretum. This is a proper pub with stone flooring and pine tables offering good food (best not to be in too much of a hurry) at sensible prices. Both the landlord and his serving girl are friendly so all in all what's not to like.
