This is a very original place to eat and drink with lots of history and a unique ambiance. The food is good but it is the history and atmosphere that really make this restaurant / bar a "must stop" if you are driving the Turquoise trail.

Stopped in for lunch with our family. Beautiful day so we sat on the patio. I has the green chile burger and it was very good. It was not spicy, but did have a lot of flavor. Very enjoyable lunch.

I've eaten here several times over the years and the meals have been good and better than I expected given the size and location. First off, Madrid is a worthy destination to spend a day wandering and the "Tavern" is just another good excuse to visit Madrid. The Tavern has an excellent choice of beer that will most likely satisfy... More

Madrid (Mad-rid) was a 1890s coal mining town, about 30 minutes due south of Santa Fe. Mines shut down in 1954 and place re-discovered by artists in the 1970s. Year round population now just 204, but full of tourists and bikers on a weekend. Worth the drive from Santa Fe and the highlight this artsy/gift shop town is the Mineshaft... More

We went for a casual Valentine's Day meal and were totally surprised. The beer choices were excellent and the bar totally stocked. The entrees were very good, NY strip steak -med rare - just right and the prime rib steak was sensational. Even better were the appetizers - oysters grilled to perfection and blackened shrimp, but best of all was... More

Great atmosphere. We ate the fish and chips but 2 out of 4 of us had to send it back for lack of fish (it was corrected). Had a Ballast Point porter ($8), a little pricey i would say, but very good. Service was excellent and so was our waitress. I would certainly go back, but nothing to write home... More

Great funky place with super nice staff. Make sure you get green chili burger and the hatch chili tempura appetizer. Both are fantastic.

Enjoy the brisket here, as well as the elaborate drinks. The service is fairly and you'll like the music at dinner time.
