I know there is new management and am willing to give them some time to get things under control. I had hoped it would mean some menu changes and a more friendly wait staff. Bar tenders are friendlier and a few new ( expensive) specials. But otherwise not impressed. No menu changes, chips in nachos were very stale and cheese... More

Challenge to get seated in time. Food was average. It was a place to eat. About all I can say. I need this sentence to get the 100 characters.

Being right across the road from the motel we were staying at, we decided to try this location for our dinner. The food was delicious and at a reasonable price. The staff and service was great. I'm glad the motel owners suggested this place to eat dinner. My family and I were very pleased. There is a Cantina next door... More

October 18, 2016 - We arrived at Chama around 4pm, checked into Cumbres Suites (a nice little motel, reviewed separately), and then we decided on dinner. The owner of Cumbres Suites recommended the High Country Restaurant, which was just a mile away. We arrived at the High Country Restaurant around 5:30pm and were seated with little wait. We decided to... More

The owner of the hotel, right across the street, suggested we go eat steak. So, we did. It was a nice meal, good atmosphere, and we enjoyed it.

Several people around town recommended the High Country for dinner (including our B&B host). This restaurant offers great steaks and other western favorites (I had their chicken fried steak). The place was packed but they moved diners through efficiently and we never felt rushed. The Friday night that we were there, they had live music - a folk guitarist who... More

Steak was served rare as requested and service good, but the chicken in chicken fettuccine very dry. Wine selection very minimal (3 reds and 3 whites.) Standard faire.

The specials of the day are a little strange. No soup ready by 6 pm? Other than that it's the best and only place to eat a good meal in this town. Food was good.

We were on a big road trip and stopped for lunch. Very cozy place with great food. They were busy, but that is a good sign.
