This is a lovely restaurant hidden down an alley way off the main road. It has seriously good seafood at very reasonable prices. We had fantastic prawns with lemongrass, grilled snapper, deep fried squid , mango salad and 4 beers. All were delicious and it...More

We spend our last evening on Phu Quoc in Hieu‘s family restaurant and did not regret it. The food was very, very delicious (I had the fried Shrimps with Lemongrass and Chili) and the service was very friendly. Although the location is a bit difficult...More

We had a delicious dinner here. It is a bit hidden. You should just keep walking the street until you arrive at the restaurant. It’s about 200 m and the little scary path in the evening it’s worthwhile :)

The meal was perfect, they had brilliant Vietnamese coffee, the prices were cheap even for the Vietnamese standards. The waiter(owner?) is helpful and speaks quite good English (in comparison with waiters in Hanoi and Phu Quoc). We also enjoyed the location of the restaurant: located...More

Luckily someone ported the picture of the hostel besides the alley that leads to the restaurant. Otherwise we would have never found it. Once we got there we were immediately greeted by the owner and enjoyed the calm place away from the busy main street....More

We went looking for Hieu’s Family Restaurant after reading the reviews here. We saw the sign on the Main Street directing us down a little laneway but after walking for a few minutes down a dark alleyway we gave up and retreated to lit pathways....More

Hieu's Family Restaurant is OPEN for business. We do not know who has reported it as closed.

Hieu's Family Restaurant has been in operation for 24 years. It began when the family provided food on the beach for the few early tourists to Phu Quoc. There was not even a building at the beginning, just chairs on the beach. In time the family rented space to serve tourists, but each time in each location, the rent was increased, so the family had to move. Still the regulars managed to find it each time they returned. "The food is so good and so inexpensive, why eat anywhere else?" This is a common comment about Hieu's. Finally the restaurant has found a permanent home in a lovely garden attached to the family house. Though more off the beaten path, the regulars are still finding it and telling others. The restaurant is now located off Tran Hung Dao St., about 200 meters up the small alley next to Canary Hostel. Look for the big green sign that says Canary, and head up the hill.
