On arrival all COVID protocols were in place and the tables were spaced so we felt very comfortable eating here. We had a pizza and sweet chili pasta. The pizza was delicious and the base was thin and crispy. The pasta was a generous portion and very tasty. Sweetness of the sauce became a bit overpowering towards the end. Coffees were hot and well made with really delicious complimentary biscotti. Service was ok but no follow up once the food was served. Good value for money. We took our own wine and paid R45 for corkage. Would visit again.

We were quite late for lunch (approximately 15h00) but ordered a pizza. The drinks came in time, but we waited quite some time (25 minutes) for our pizza. We were the only patrons expect one more couple. Apart from the sluggish delivery, I must say, the pizza rates amongst the best I have seen in the Western Cape for some time. Seating can be out- or inside, prices are moderate. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a traditional, classic pizza!

Wow! We were craving for some good pizzas and after reading the reviews of different restaurants, we decided to go to this one. That was a good choice; the pizzas were delicious! Very thin crust. We can recommend the prosciutto pizza!

Ordered Chicken Alfredo for delivery, expecting actual chicken, as stated on the menu, to find tasteless type of chicken ham. Quite disappointing as I really looked forward to the meal. The staff that took the order by phone also yelled to kitchen staff every time we asked a question regarding the food, which was really unprofessional. Will not be ordering again.

Good pizza & beer - slow service

My wife and I went to Woodpecker on Friday evening 17 September 2021. No reservations are allowed at the restaurant. Which I believe is a good thing. . They were busy and we couldn't get a table inside . There are a very limited number of tables inside because the space is small. The service was friendly and professional . They serve craft beer on tap.. only 1 type of craft beer unfortunately. When we placed our pizza order we were warned of it taking long. It took over and hour for our pizzas to arrive . The pizzas were well prepared . We had 2 facaccia pizzas , 2 regular pizzas and I had 1 craft beer. The corkage is R45. Our bill came to R496 excluding tip.

We went here for an evening pizza. There is a good selection on the menu but don’t expect Italian authenticity. The pizzas are a good size but the toppings comprise a mix of Greek and US influences. Prices are reasonable and they do a takeaway. Everything appeared a bit rushed though - and the waiter seemed to have a bit ‘take it or leave it’ attitude. For example, we weren’t asked if we wanted another drink or a desert as most restaurants would do. It’s ok as a quick bite to eat but don’t expect a true culinary experience or romantic dinner

Pros: Some of the best Pizza we had outside Italy. Nice atmosphere, and very well kept. Cons: We asked for take aways, and wanted to sit at a table and have a beer and wine while we waited. We where told that there would be a private function tonight and all the table where reserved. We then stood around waiting for our food. About 10 minutes later, other customers not part of the private function came in and where imidiately shown a table by a different server. Our original server then asked us if we would like to sit down and we declined. Apart from this the food was perfect, well worth a visit.

My husband and I are on our way to knysna and we decided to stop in Swellendam for something to eat, we chose this small place called woodpecker in Swellendam. The service at this place is outstanding, the waiter named Joshua Van Der Vent handled us with great excellence. We are definitely choosing this waiter with this restaurant again .

Anytime again as we love good food

After a long journey with a lot of hunger we were welcomed here in a friendly way and enjoyed the food very much. We were also well supplied with the wine recommendation. Thankfully, even a FOOD REQUEST was addressed.

Great pizza!

We were there for a birthday today. 10 Teenagers and two adults. Yes the service could be better, but we were 12, and really, why sit down if you are in a hurry? Our food was great!! (really, very good). Our group had a wonderfull time, the owner was so friendly.... All in all a great experience. Nobody in this region can do a better pizza 🍕😍

Friendly staff. Would only go for the pizza next time. The chicken schnitzel is too fat. The decor could use an update, however given the hard times (Covid) probably takes a while and should be accepted.

Surprisingly good place for lunch

Had lunch here as recommended by our hotel next door. Surprisingly good food and wide choice on menu other than pizza. Service was good and friendly, though the place lacked atmosphere as there were so few customers (admittedly, weather was awful)

Lovely pizza
