A lovely meal seated on the balcony - the menu offered lots of choice with daily specials and was very good. There is an emphasis on local produce - local wine and craft beer was excellent too. The friendly staff are keen to help you...More

Good choice of food, menu displayed on blackboard. Reasonable prices. Food well presented. Only downside are the hard dining chairs

The food is really good especially the duck pie, but the menu in general is overpriced - even by Cape Town standards. They didn’t have stock of any of the 4 listed wines that we wanted, and suggested we try the most expensive bottle on...More

A fantastic meal! And an extensive wine list to match. Food, service and setting is lovely. Highly recommend fine dining.

I would give this place 5 stars if it were not for the tiny wildebeest portion I received. Flavours were really good, but for the price, and having been told that the steak was 200g, I was disappointed when it turned out to be a...More

Booked before we left the uk 🇬🇧 which was a good idea as full booked when we arrived. Nice place, friendly staff and good service. We had eaten here 7 years ago when we last visited the area. Very nice food.

Good wine list, tempting sounding menu but fairly average food. I ordered the rack of lamb with a herb crust for my main. I don't think 3 small separate chops represent a rack and the herbs were wet rather than a crust. While I agree...More

This is the third visit this year, food is good if getting expensive, the setting is fine the only problem this time was indifferent service from a new/badly trained waiter. On previous visits the service was much better

Description
Brent Phillips-White, owner and executive chef at the Gallery Café is self-trained and uses his passion for ingredients and fresh produce to excellent use creating dishes inspired by his many and varied travels. Elements of the Mediterranean, Middle East and the wonderful spices of Asia, from India to Vietnam, are incorporated into many of the dishes. The most popular meals feature game (currently black wildebeest fillet), local Karoo lamb dishes and duck, port and black cherry pie. The favoured vegetarian meals are the North Indian Brinjals Albaras or the vegan dish Quinoa Risotto. In winter, heartier fare such as lamb bredie (stew), or heart-warming shanks in a rich tomato and red wine sauce, or Osso Bucco with Saffron Risotto reappears. The Gallery Café’s lamb, vegetable, chicken and game stocks are made from scratch and Brent takes great care to source local ingredients, many from the garden he planted to supply the restaurant. Other components of his meals come from farms and farmers’ markets between Prince Albert and George; Belgian Chocolate is couriered monthly from Gauteng. The menu for the Gallery Café remains consistent with seasonal changes, made to accommodate the availability and quality of the produce. Brent has a small team in the kitchen to help create these dishes daily.
