Didn't like the fish and chips Was heavy in grease. Not for us. Parking requires street meter, if you can found spot.

I had recently returned from Ireland and I was craving fish and chips. New Jersey is not a hotbed for authentic tasting fish and chips but research led me to the Argyll Restaurant in Kearney. I was greeted by a lovely waitress, who gave me the history of the restaurant. She also explained all of the goodies that were on... More

Kearny is down to it's last Fish and Chips restaurant and it's a good one. Anyone desiring good tasting fish and chips in the Scottish style, look no further. There is a diversified menu of other sea food but, I like fish and chips. There is New England sea food chowder on Friday and Saturday only and Manhattan all week.... More

Each year this resteraunt has a great dinner and show for Robby Burn's Birthday. He is a Scotish Poet and his poem "an ode to Haggis" is recited and celebrated with bagpipers, highland dancers, and ends with everyone singing "auld lang seigh".. The food here is excellent even if you do not get the traditional Fish & Chips. We had... More

I heard about this restaurant being talked about on the radio. I couldn't wait to go up there and try it . I consider myself a fish and chips expert. I have had fish and chips from all over the world. So far, the best I have found were in St.Johns Newfoundland and Niagara Falls Ontario. The worst have been... More

Best Fish and Chips you can get outside of the the UK. Cod is cooked to perfection and the chips are crispy and hot. Make a reservation for one of the Robbie Burns Suppers in January. Its a great time

We decided to try Argyle's last Saturday afternoon. There were four other tables besides ours and one waitress. It took 30 minutes for her to come to our table to take our order after I had to go get her and tell her that we have been waiting for her to come. Two people at my table ordered fish and... More

We went with a party of 14 for Burns supper on a Saturday night. We have been coming here for years. The food is good and prices are reasonable. There is a limited menu for the Burns Supper night. They have to do that due to the crowds (it is always packed). There is a little entertainment with the Scottish/Irish... More

Argyle is as good as it gets in the US for fish & chips. The interior is modestly furnished and decorated wit the obligatory picture of the Scottish Bard Robert Burns. The service is friendly and good and the fish & chips is very tasty. They have many other items on the menu but, I've always ordered the fish &... More

Many, many, many years since we have been to Kearney and the Argyle. Still very good! Scottish eggs, blood pudding, fish and chips...all done right! Great service too...of course hardly anyone was there when we were! Great visit and great food! Hope it isn't 14+ years before next visit!
