Ate at the bar and it was fabulous. Had the oysters, littlenecks and jumbo shrimp. Fish Tacos and the Mussels were both terrific. Bread was great. Bartender provided great service. A good food experience and will be back

Very pleasantly surprised at how good this restaurant was after walking by earlier and suggested by our hotel. We ordered the radicchio salad and asked for a substitution for the Gorgonzola cheese and had a nice Greek cheese similar to goat cheese. The tuna tartare...More

I've read numerous reviews and concur with most. I disagree with all reviews suggesting too expensive or over priced; I believe the prices are 100% in line with my expectations. We sat at the bar and opted for a variety of appetizers including oysters, soups,...More

The only negative is the crowded tables and noise level but the food and service is terrific. The lowest price haddock piccata is outstanding. The PEI mussel table appetizer is a must.

Way expensive. Food was good. Atmosphere was good. Selection of seafood good. But nothing spectacular for the price.

We had a lot of locals including the woman working the desk at our hotel tell us this was the place to go for amazing seafood. It was okay. In the same weekend, we also hit The Franklin, Surf, and Row 34. In comparison, Jumpin'...More

So how were we to know, having just arrived from CT. It turns out they have this event regularly and the locals know. Now so do we. I started with 16 oysters with a very nice Caesar followed by haddock and I the roasted salmon....More

Definitely expensive. But the tastes were all superb, as was the service. The place is absolutely packed with locals on a Monday night, which says something for how the locals think of it.

Located just two blocks down from Market Square in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Jumpin' Jay's is a local foodie enclave serving refined seafood in a sleek restaurant setting. The quality of fare is unsurpassed, with fish arriving daily from local fisherman as well as some exotic catches from locations such as New Zealand and Ecuador. Four to six varieties of fish appear on the ever-changing "Catch of the Day" menu, complimented by your choice of gourmet sauce. Our raw bar offers an extensive variety of shellfish found in New Hampshire. Our specialties menu offers more traditional flavor, including Maine Crab Cakes, Haddock Piccata and our popular Linguine in White Clam Sauce. The atmosphere is casually hip, with no pretense. Reservations encouraged. Open seven nights a week.
