I had my first lobster roll in 1970 travelling in New England (from the midwest). We paid $1. I still remember how wonderful it was. I have tried a few midwest versions.....but they just don't measure up. This was well worth the 1500 mile drive....More

We wanted a decent lobster roll and clams while traveling to NH. It was suggested to go here and we were not disappointed. The only reason why not 5 was the price. If you want ambiance, this is not the place. It's a self service,...More

The Lobster Bisque is the best. Hot with large chunks of Lobster. Full menu and a huge variety of ice cream delights too. Only outside seating available. Across from beach access.

Was I really hungry or was it really that good? We stopped into the Beach Plum after a long day of meetings. I ordered the lobster bisque and lobster roll. I was surprised to see the roll served with chips and not cole slaw. Not...More

The Beach Plum has been rated the best Lobster Roll since 2009. They were also featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives so we had to try this place when we were in Portsmouth. We ordered a couple of 6 oz. Lobster Rolls and a...More

Decided to stop in to get some clam chowder. A small and a large with small French fries came to $17. The small was small and the large, well just a little bigger. Very expensive but the soup was pretty good. The French fries were...More

We stopped in for a lobster roll and we both ordered the 10 ounce. Yes it's pricey but well worth it. It is one of the best we've ever had. It comes on a grilled hot dog bun and is over flowing with fresh juicy...More

We don't take reservations but our tables turn over very quickly with food on your table usually in 7 minutes from the time you order at the front counter. So even on the busiest days you'll get a table in 5-10 min. No 1-2... More

Description
The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The next year, a better location became available just down the street (at it's current location) and it became a take out food and ice cream stand. That original location continues to operate seasonally April - October each year. Based on strong growth in the business at that beach location, a second Beach Plum location was opened at 2800 Lafayette Road (Route 1) in Portsmouth on St Patrick's Day 2011. This Portsmouth location features an expanded menu that includes award winning fried seafood with both indoor and outside deck dining. The Portsmouth Beach Plum was featured on TV Diner in 2012 and Phantom Gourmet in 2011 which named it as a Great 8 restaurant for both it's famous lobster rolls AND fried clams. The Beach Plum is believed to be the only restaurant in New England to be so honored as 1 of the 8 best for BOTH seafood specialties. In December 2015, a new Beach Plum opened at the Brickyard Square Plaza, 24 Calef Highway (Route 125),Epping,NH. That location shares the same menu as this Portsmouth location.
