Went for lunch with me mum. She loves to go here. I ordered a burger and chips. She ordered leek soup and avocado toast. Food was good, did take a while. I was on a 45 minute lunch break from work 2 minutes away and...More

This place is in an old bank building with the vaults still in place. The night I was here they had a duo playing Irish music that was very entertaining. Nice crowd and attentive staff made for a nice time.

We were on a cruise and stopped for lunch. Ordered the fish and chips but got burnt batter sans fish. We could break off pieces of batter. Complained to the waitress who stated that it might be over cooked a bit., No kidding. Have to...More

Went here with wife and friend. Although the noon hour, the restaurant was fairly quiet. Service was prompt and friendly, surroundings pleasant. We all had the fish and chips, very good battered haddock, a generous portion, with fries which could have been crisper and more...More

Nice location in the center of town near church. The architecture was nice, and they had live Irish music which was very good. But the attitude of the two ladies tending to me and the speed of their service was very unappealing...and they were not...More

The food is more or less authentic, better than other places that purport to be Irish. There is music on occassion. The service is friendly. And there is beer on tap. What more could you ask for? Oh yes, it's in the middle of Portsmouth,...More

There are plenty of other places to experience in Portsmouth. I have been to over fifty, and probably closer to 100, Irish pubs across the US and overseas. I went on 20 August 2018. Though a nice location the young lady behind the was slow,...More

Came here early last Wednesday and had a bowl of the seafood chowder. Maybe cause we came at 11;15 our chowder was not hot. Very good though with lots of delicious seafood and seasoned perfectly. Would try again. Our waitress was friendly and quick.

Description
THE OLDEST BANK BUILDING IN THE USA The two separate bank buildings of 22 and 26 Market Square, actually started as one building called The New Hampshire Bank, back in 1803, making it the oldest bank building in The United States. The New Hampshire Bank occupied the site since 1782, but the current building was constructed in 1803. In 1869, the building was divided with the Portsmouth Savings Bank taking the north half and The First National Bank occupying the south half of the building. When the Portsmouth Savings Bank needed to expand in 1903, it did so by incorporating a saloon to its north into the building. When the Bank opened in 1904, incorporating the neighboring saloon, it did so with a newly constructed huge glass dome depicting the Great Seal of New Hampshire; this remains the focal point for when Rí Rá opened its doors in March 2009. In 1977 the building(s) were admitted to the National Register of Historic Places
