We recently visited Mombo and had one of the finest and most interesting meals we've had in a long time. It was our first visit to both Portsmouth and Mombo, and when we looked online for restaurant options there was something about Mombo's menu that...More

A very quaint restaurant close to downtown. The food was great, the service... EXCELLENT. You really need to stop in and give this establishment your business. The restaurant is housed in an old colonial era location. The overall setting, food and staff are great.

Perhaps I am underrating Mombo using the term "modestly unusual." Sure Yellowfin Tuna seems standard but the other elements of the plate, itse presentation and spicing were initially surprising and then really good. My wife had the lobster flatbread special. We lingered over dinner but...More

We joined friends visiting NH to dine and catch up at Mombo. We were seated at the chef's table, with its focus on the kitchen activities, and secluded from the main dining area. Our waitress, Andrea, is obviously a seasoned server, whose skills and manner...More

Easy private lot and short walk to a table outside in the summer, and a warm, comfortable atmosphere inside. Had dinner at the bar and found the service to be average, but the wine and food to be above average. No wifi slowed my business...More

I wanted to dine outside where it would be quiet and comfortable. I was delighted with the comfortable outside space here. The waiter was great: personable, informative, attentive. There were 3 of us and we ordered one Caesar salad to share. The waiter brought us...More

Mombo is certainly the best restaurant on the New Hampshire seacoast, with an eclectic, imaginitive, continental-leaning cuisine and a stunning ambiance hightlighted by what looks like a priceless collection of oil paintings. Although it has an open air dining area, we tend to go there in...More

Food - excellent! We both had the Caesar BLT salad - think of it as a mix between a Caesar salad and a wedge salad. Fantastic combo. My husband had the deconstructed clam chowder. It was delivered as a bowl that had 4 freshly cooked...More

A friend and I ran in this restaurant to quickly buy a bottle of wine to take on our boat cruise and the staff was beyond friendly. We spent a few minutes chatting with some folks at the bar, who had just returned from said...More

Met another couple for dinner at 6pm. Arrived early for drinks outside. Pleasant summer evening, the setting was nice, the service was fine. But don't go off the menu for house cocktails. They couldn't make a "French 75" or a "Vesper" martini, which shouldn't be...More

No. There is no dress code, but most patrons will be dressed upscale casual. Those celebrating a special event may wear a jacket, but it's up to you.
