It was a nice place to start my weekend at Dartmouth. Nice decor. Good beer choices. Attentive service. We'd definitely go back.

The atmosphere in Canoe Club is lovely - great decor. Our server was attentive, and our appetizers were tasty (cheese board and salads). Unfortunately, our main courses (chicken entree and mussels) left a lot to be desired. The chicken was incredibly dry and the did not taste right, and the mussels lacked flavor. One entree, the tuna, was good. Overall,... More
The food items are always creative and tasty. Setting is very nice - better for talking rhan the other DT Hanover dining spots. Only critism : food is not delivered hot...even the soups. More attention to that detail is needed. And, this is based on multiple visits. A small thing to fix....but a big disappointment when the food comes out... More
We chose to dine at the Canoe Club on our second evening in Hanover during a recent visit in mid-December 2016. We were immediately intrigued with the name of the establishment and the potential for ties to the Buffalo Canoe Club on Lake Erie and we were not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience, from the delicious food and... More
Previously, my one objection was that the restaurateur had been lured by the fashion for Mexican food. That is no longer the case. The menu is replete with temptations, and succumbing to them is gustatory delight. But when you advertise a chicken breast it should be a breast unless they notify you in advance of a substitution. Risotto and roasted vegetables were so-so. The salmon was done perfectly ($24)... Based on the restaurant's decor, the greeting we received, and the live jazz music, I thought we were in for a great dinner. The food, however, was too inferior for that to happen. Our fried calamari appetizer had very little calamari and did not have the lightly fried texture that we enjoy. My wife's veggie burger was thin and so... More
