On Friday, September 17, 2021, my brother and I drove out to Wendover. Despite its being lunch time, just after 1 p.m., we decided to have breakfast food for lunch at the Prospector Café.
After being seated in a booth, we soon received menus and...requests for drinks or other starters. We both chose water.
As we looked over the menus, Lesley came by to see if we were ready to order. We asked her for a little more time. The next time she came by, we ordered.
My brother had eggs, hash browns, chicken fried steak, and white toast. I had sunny side up, hash browns, bacon, and wheat toast.
Lesley came around just often enough to make sure all was well.
My only complaint about my breakfast food would have been a minor mention of the hash browns being just a little rubbery next to the crisp outside. The inside was cooked just about right. My brother said that he could tell what went wrong with the hash browns. He said that they must have started to cook before the grill was fully heated.
Anyway, we both came away satisfied with the food and the moderate cost. In fact, we were surprised to find out that my breakfast was listed as a breakfast special at $3.99 on the bill, which saved us $2 from the menu price for what I thought I had ordered, so my brother just figured that difference as part of the tip from the cash he gave Lesley.
Upon handing her the cash and the bill, she said, “I’ll be right back with your change.”
My brother just smiled and said, “No you won’t. Just keep it.”
I have usually preferred eating at the buffets in town, but since they don’t open until Friday evenings, now, and since prices for the buffets in the other casinos are so high, now, for supper, I don’t regret at all going to the Prospector Café this time. Also, if we were going earlier in the day, this still would be the go-to place for my brother and me to have breakfast.More
