This restaurant is open even after most restaurants closed earlier in October/September. They serve Greek Meze, that are really delicious and made from good, local products. Their house wine is quite solid in comparison to other restaurants on Zakynthos.
But be aware cats and dogs...are watching you eating. Especially the dog begging for food can be somewhat annoying.More
Atmospheric place, great food in small plates but full of taste, very good wine, logical prices!a place to be for those who believe that in simplicity lies the beauty of life!blessed to have been there, looking forward to return!!enjoy!!
Ampelostrates is a tavern worth visiting since it is really special located next to a vineyard.Tables are within the trees and in the field there were chicken, roosters etc. Food was good.Taste the fresh gourgette salad, tsigaridopita and definately try the roze bottled wine that is...of their own production. It is sooo good!!!! Portions could be bigger or for meat they could include side addings. You feel so in nature so i would recommend visiting Ampelostrates at least once!!!More
What a fabulous find. A wonderful atmospheric Greek gem. A truly wonderful evening spent two weeks back whilst on holiday in Zakynthos with my wife. The restaurant is located within a farm yard surrounded by fields and old outbuildings set up on two levels. Protected...from the fierce heat by fig trees and other mature trees which the chicken would sit happily in. Janiss and the family were wonderful hosts, attentive and fun. The food which was not typically Greek was divine and the homemade wine was totally drinkable. The music kept the atmosphere going. What a place. Long may it continue and the secret of a heavenly dining experience is at Ampelostrates somewhere. Ps Gushed about the place all night. Not done that before.More
We visited with our family of 10, including grandparents, parents and 6 kids and cousins, all teenagers. We basically ordered everything on the small handwritten menu. We wanted to try everything and share. The friendly and accommodating owner and probably sons were happy to indulge...us. Every dish was authentic Greek, made from freshest ingredients. Lots of their own delicious wine, second servings of the meat dishes for the big, hungry boys, and a really amazing complimentary dessert. The total bill for the absolutely delicious and delightful meal came to an average of $14 per person. Rustic and remote, with dogs, chickens, cats and a horse all hanging about. A Greek experience you won’t forget. They opened at 5 and we arrived then. I wouldn’t want to have gone after dark on my first visit. Easy after that.More

We got there in the evening with almost no people to see at the tables, we ordered some drinks, I had a coke which was dirty at the tip so when I drank from it I got dirt in my mouth, disgusting. We ordered several...dishes which came one after another, after two hours of waiting when we only had been eating 2-3 dishes, we asked what was taking so long, they had forgotten which is acceptable, but it took a solid 15 minutes after they served the rest. Even the bill was late, terrible service and only food for people who like it with a big pinch of saltMore
We went for an evening dinner at Ampelstrates, and was almost alone at the restaurant when we arrived. We ordered several small dishes, which came one after another. Very tasty! However, several of the main dishes we ordered did not appear, and when we asked...for them we were told they had forgotten. That may be acceptable, but the time it took to correct the mistake was highly unacceptable. We had to ask several times, and even the bill was late. Very disappointing, given the previous rating by other TripAdvisor users.More
