Recently visited our local again (now under new ownership )for a proper Sunday roast. The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive and our meals were very well cooked and tasty. Generous portions, reasonable prices and good quality food. Good beers too 😀 Highly recommended

Enjoyed a delicious Thai red curry served by friendly staff, Leanne and Tony in the new look Crown and Anchor. Great food, great value and so super to see the pub busy again! Well done and good luck for a successful future.

After reading good reports of this place we headed here for a meal on our trip to Thirsk. It's a very attractive pub and the staff very friendly. We arrived at 1.40pm and were assured that food was served til 2pm, there was no pressure to rush and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. We had a nice ale from... More

Enjoyed the hot chicken salad whilst my husband chose the gammon. The food was delicious and was prepared very quickly. My only fault was that there was too much meat , a whole crown of chicken and 3 rashers of bacon. On a plus my husband happily demolished half of my meat aswell as his own meal. The salad dressing... We received a friendly welcome for lunch today. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. My husband and I had sausage and onion baguettes. Fabulous Masham sausages! The children's meals included deserts and, again, were well presented. We sat in the garden with our dog - a perfect spot for lunch on our journey from Warwickshire to the North East.... More

Came in at tea time. Very large newfoundland dog taking up entire floor in front of bar. The dog owner didnt care. A lady with a baby in her arms had to step over the dog and the owner just smiled and never attempted to move dog. Everyone having to step over it. Not good when you are trying to... More

The pub's in a lovely part of town, on Sowerby's Front Street. The pub itself is fairly small inside. I had the steak pie and chips. Lots of meat, but just a puff pastry lid (not a pie in my view). And the gravy was REALLY salty, to the point that i couldn't finish it. We were visiting in the... More

Have just recently been to a Christening here and i was very impressed. It was a lovely little pub and very clean. The hot buffet was fantastic, so much choice and really really good and the puddings just as nice. Lovely little beer garden, nice toilets and the staff were great.
