We loved this place for dinner and went back for the best breakfast of our 10 day trip! Dinner was trout, steak, and burgers with wonderful cheesecake and blueberry pie for desert. Breakfast was a huge ham and cheese sandwich with fresh fried potatoes. Pumpkin...More

We ate at the cafe twice and were pleased overall. I had the salad with salmon which was dressed well and was good especially for such a small cafe off the grid. My husband had the grizzly salmon wrap with a great herb mayonnaise. The...More

The pumpkin bread and atmosphere make it all worthwhile: the breakfasts look fantastic and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The smoked salmon wrap was scrumptious! The tomato basil soup was delicious as well. I strongly suggest folks try them both. I will be back, and to stay at the cabins as well!

We ate at the Log Cabin restaurant three or four years ago during another visit to the area. Nothing has changed. On this trip, we ate an evening meal and a breakfast. All four of us had the trout for our evening meal - outstanding....More

A quiet escape from plastic and fancy - real food well prepared in an authentic Montana setting; friendly and professional service. We happened in for breakfast after an amazing early morning with the wildlife in Lamar Valley, and made a point to come back the...More

Silver Gate is not much to look at but they seem to understand what people want. We popped in for an early supper and were quickly served by whom we assumed was the owner; although the East European helper who assisted and understood very little...More

What makes a bad dining experience? Bad food? Bad service? Overpriced? What happens when it all happens in one place? That was my dinner at the Log Cabin Cafe. It looked cute from outside, but it was disaster once we sat down. Prices were quite...More

I ended up driving up Yellowstone's Lamar Valley and decided to look for a restaurant in the little town of Silver Gate (and it is a little town!). I saw this place and didn't have high hopes but noticed the Tripadvisor sticker in the window...More

Great home cooking, they were open at 5:30am so we could grab coffee and such before heading into the park. The Log Cabin Cafe is so close the Lamar Valley you can watch wildlife and still find great food and head back to the Lamar...More

Description
Our meals are homemade, right in our 1937 log cabin kitchen. We uphold a longstanding tradition; creating wholesome and delicious dishes from only the most pure and nourishing ingredients. Many of our ingredients come from right here in Montana, like our famous Beartooth Burger, made from beef raised in the shadow of the Beartooth plateau. Our ingredients recall home cooking of the past, when folks gathered to share authentic dishes from nearby sources. Like the meals we all might have tasted at grandmother’s table years ago, the Log Cabin serves a feast of fresh, hearty and delicious flavors!

For Yellowstone explorers seeking real recipes to fuel their passionate wilderness quests— weary of finding only overcooked, overpriced, brown glob, masquerading as a meal— the Log Cabin offers simple, nutrient-dense meals that surprise the senses. Your sources are sustainable and local rising to the hope of national parks to preserve nature for future generations. And our magical original log dining room soothes modern stressors. Unchanged since 1937— rooted deep like that dense pine forest sheltering us— the Log Cabin and its savory meals have been a timeless treasure for decades.
