We had the pasty with gravy. It was warm and delicious. Also loved the coleslaw and blueberry pie. The place is old not overly clean but about what you would expect for a great small town local cafe. I would definitely come here again.

This is a very casual, small café. Dress as comfortably as you can. On Fri. night, I had their pasty of meat and potatoes and it was big (for me anyway). I had the gumbo soup and it was delicious. Glad I ordered the peach pie and that was delicious. I should have had the mini pasty if I had... More

Only a block off one of the main streets and near the freeway, Joe's still has the delicious pasty I remember from the first time I stopped there with friends 20 years ago! I was so happy to see it is still there and the quality is just as good. There is no chintzing on the size of quality of... More

Pasties were a staple of miners from days gone by. They have become a historical eat in Butte. Taking a tour guide's word we thought we've give 'em a go. Not so great. Bland. Diced potatoes and a few pieces of meat in a doughy shell with gravy on it. It might stick to your ribs but it did not... More

I have never left a review like this, but feel I must - we decided to stop here for lunch while in Butte and I can honestly say we will not return. While the folks here were wonderful, the food is worse than a school lunch - in fact, I'd eat a school lunch if given the choice between it... More

Eating at Joe's is a Butte tradition. The pasty is a Butte meal not to be missed, and Joe's makes them as well as anyone. Sitting quietly and eating my meal, I was privvy to several conversations by locals eating there as well. I found out all kinds of info about them, their neighbors, the local gossip about divorces, the... More

Very good! Reminded me of grandma's cooking. Cocktail size and regular pastys. Bought more to take home. Definitely worth a visit.

We pulled in at 6:05 after driving 9 hours and asked if we could still get dinner, since they close at 7. They said yes so we drug all 6 of our small children in got them seated and ordered. After a while they came back and said that they had turned off the grill and all we could have... More

Always a great place to eat. Food is homemade and fresh. Great place to take students. Staff is always accommodating to our groups. Wouldn't visit Butte without eating a pasty at Joes.

Someone we encountered in Billings explained that to know Butte, we had to get a pasty, and Joe's was the place to do it. Arriving in town at lunchtime, it was the right choice. Joe's is a longstanding establishment in a modest structure on the edge of the city center. The decor is plain Americana diner with some interesting Montana-related... More
