While the food was decent the service was poor - our waiter was extremely rude. As a result I will not be returning to Arata. I would recommend anyone dining in Big Sky go to Lotus Pad or BYWOM (much better service/ great food). If you're craving Sushi either order take-out from Arata (avoid dealing with not so nice waiter)... More

Staff had a great attitude. We had a special roll, but next time I would get a plain maki roll. The Poke with chips was great and had a tropical flavor. We will be back.

Seems like it could be a hometown place in Hawaii. They were accommodating and made avo rolls for the kids even though it's not on the menu. Good service, a bit slow due to off season staffing I assume.

First off, I didn't get to eat because they were out of fish at 8:30. I definitely appreciate them saying this rather than selling fish that isn't fresh! I thought the service fell through a little this time, though. Nobody even said anything to me or greeted me when I walked through the door, I had to walk to the... More

So I love the Hawaiian style rolls. They also have great cocktails. "The Drop" is a delightful drink. I'm not a fan of the rice (it's a little mushy for my taste) and the atmosphere is a little dry. I think I'll stick with Dave's in Bozeman but if you need a sushi fix it's worth a try.

I'm a big sushi lover, and although Hawaiian sushi didn't seem my style, I decided to try it. (Hawaiian is typically overstuffed rolls.) I ordered nigiri, and it was fresh and wonderful. (Still very big pieces, so 6 filled me up fantastically.) I really like the waiter. (Forgot his name, but he used to work at cabin bar and grill.)... More

When we walked in the restaurant and it was empty - we definitely had second thoughts about staying. We're glad we did. Food was outstanding and well priced and the waiter was a riot. Very knowledgeable about the food, Hawaii and great suggestions on drinks. Since we were the only diners most of the time - we had his full... More

This place is great if your in the mood for sushi. My wife who isn't even a huge sushi fan loves it! The rolls are always fresh & unique. I would arrive early as possible, just a few tables & gets busy fast. The miso soup & seaweed salad are also delicious!

Hawaiian style sushi was new to us but easy to appreciate with balanced, tropical flavors and seasonings. Arata is a smaller location with very personable staff of two, that go the extra mile with fresh sushi flown in from the Hawaiian islands. I recommend calling ahead when possible as they are often closed on Mondays and open flex time in... More

We eat regularly at Arata. Ed and Chris make the evening great. The seaweed salad is the best. Ask Ed to make you a roll of his choice. You won't be disappointed. We have 4 pre-teen granddaughters that always ask us to take them to Arata when they visit. Ed's careful preparation takes time, so be patient. The wait is... More
