Take it from a local, this tiny restaurant delivers some of the best tasting Vietnamese food you'll ever devour. Everything is carefully prepared as you order. Never had a disappointing dish here in many visits. The spring rolls are to die for. The Bahn Mi sandwiches are delightful. Excellent customer service and very friendly owners. They will remember you when... More

Since we moved to St. Louis eight months ago, my wife and I have been in the search for authentic Vietnamese food, especially Pho. After eating in at least six other restaurants I can say with confidence that Banh Mi So is the best! Their Pho was flavorful, with a clear broth, plenty of noodles, and tasty high quality meat.... So we were looking for a hole in the wall that we hadn't tried and stumbled on to this gem. It's of the main trek of Grand but so worth the maybe 5 minute drive. The decor is typical hole in the wall--old tables, plastic chairs, very little decor. The waiter /owner seated us promptly it was around 1:30pm on... More

I am a Vietnamese food junky-I could eat it everyday and practically did on my last St Louis visit! A local artist Tim recommended it and I will be forever grateful to him, it was some of the best food I've ever had. The owner was so friendly, funny, and informative, he made me feel like family. The next time... More

Pros : Very vegan and vegetarian friendly, delicious food and good service. You have to try the mung bean spring rolls. No one else in St. Louis has them. Cons: No delivery service.

This place has the freshest, finest, Vietnamese food in St. Louis. It is not on the "main stretch" of south Grand where many other restaurants, bars, and businesses are located. It is small and simple inside but oh is the food to die for. They have a sign in the window that says "Best Spring Rolls in St Louis". We... More

It was a mistake trying anything other than Banh Mi. I ordered "bo luc lac" (shaking beef) and the grilled pork to try. First off, the bo luc lac is not what it is supposed to be. Their version is more like that of "stirred beef." It is way TOO SWEET to eat and the beef was cut to thin... More

First of all, we are of Vietnamese decent. Our taste differ from non-Vietnamese. Like other tourists, we also google best Vietnamese food in St Louis and the name Banh mi so 1 came up with lots of good reviews, We decided to give a try. There were four of us, we ordered four different dishes just to try. We were... More

I am always impressed here. Trust the waiter's recommendations. Usually something off the specials board is best, and the vegetarian options are all awesome. The fried mung bean is really awesome. My only complaint/suggestion for improvement would be the beer selection because I'm not a huge Dead Guy fan, but even that seems like a quaint decision. (Like maybe it's... More

The flavors dance on your tongue! Banh Mi So #1-Saigon Gourmet has been on the STL food scene for twenty years, and the quality of the food has only improved with time. Farm-fresh and high-quality ingredients are prepared simply but oh-so-well to create layers of flavor and texture in a true celebration of Vietnamese cuisine at this hidden gem of... More
