Great food, great service, the iced mocha was super tasty. Awesome indoor outdoor area. I would also recommend the chicken cranberry filo pastry :)

Stopped on the way back from NP, Cafe was busy, food well presented and tasty but a bit light on the amount of scrambled eggs and sides are expensive - $5 for a side of baked beans, ouch!

I have stopped here for lunch / coffee on 5 occasions. The most recent today 3rd Feb 1.00pm. As I expected the place was very busy and the food on display and being served looked fantastic. Today I had a coffee and a date scone, both of which were just perfect. The location of the cafe and how it is... More

Stopped for lunch as driver hungry. Staff seemed nice, set up and surround very pretty. Convenient to public loos and playground. The meals were plated up nice, prices to match, much like city cafes. Funny thing about the cookies-and-cream milkshake, though. You know that strange aftertaste imitation flavouring leaves in your mouth? Somehow I must have missed tasting the "cookie"... More

It's great that a tiny town like Piopio - in a part of the country that is always struggling - can produce a cafe that is plainly doing very well. But full tables at lunchtime is surely more an indication of lack of competition in a "pit-stop town" than quality and value. The setting is pleasant (nice outside area and... More

We stopped at the Fat Pigeon for coffee and to pick up pre-ordered takeaway lunches while on a two-week coach tour of New Zealand. The sandwiches were very good and fresh.

Stopped in to meet a family member. Total order waa 63 dollars. Never have I had nachos that I couldn't eat. Their twist on vegeterian nachos is a small amount of beans, with a tonne of pumpkin or carrot..bagel was filled with the bare minimum of filling for 14.50 we were horrified. Husband's food was nice, apparently. So at least... More

The Fat Pigeon is a purposely built cafe brillantly located next to Kara Park at the north end of Piopio. We offer a wide range of freshly made cafe fare, complemented by Ozone coffee. We have cabinet food as well as a board menu. Indoor and outdoor seating plus a play area for the littlies, and a sandpit outside. Possibly the best stopping point on the road to Taranaki.
