We drove past this place on the way back from a trip to Whitby for something to eat. We had a 11 week old baby with us and asked if they had a table with room for a pram. The food was lovely but the attitude of the staff was upsetting, we were made to feel like we were in... More

As we were staying in Cropton, we popped in for a late lunch on the way back from Whitby. Very welcoming place and whilst I normally steer well clear of fish and chips (because the dish repeats on me, because the dish repeats on me) I dived in. It was excellent, with no indigestion afterwards. The mushy peas were like... More

Called in mid afternoon on Sunday on the way home from a weekend on the East Coast. The car park was busy and we hadn't booked. This was our first visit and we intended just to have a light lunch and a drink. On arrival we were told there wasn't a table for 2 but we could sit on the... More

A lovely pub/restaurant and very popular. We ate here twice and on both occasions the car park and the pub were packed. The first night we ate in the restaurant and the second night they squeezed us into the very pleasant bar area as they had a hen's night in the main restaurant! Good menu and the food was excellent... More

The food was ok but nothing special, I went with my wife and two year old, I found the woman serving a bit snobby. The food was well presented but not as good as it looked, I think they need to have a better kids meals . It was very pricey for the standard of food.

Visited here with a party of 11 adults and 3 young children today. Table was booked for 1pm on a saturday for a mini family reunion. The bar and restaurant area is lovely, traditional inn and we were made to feel very welcome on arrival. Unfortunately, all our party wasn't seated together, with four of us sat on a seperate... Made to feel welcome as we settled into our comfy seats next to the roaring fire on a windy night. I thoroughly enjoyed my pigeon breast and chorizo starter with a tasty vegetable base followed by stuffed pheasant breasts wrapped in bacon served on a mash base with Savoy cabbage. Plenty of veg (broccoli, carrots and braised red cabbage). Washed... More

Stopped off for lunch after a hike round hole of horcum. Fantastic country pub with great food and service - worth stopping off

We have eaten 3 times so far in this lovely country pub. If we lived closer we would be there more often. You definitely need to book at weekends. I would recommend the rare beef sandwich from the 2 -4 menu, which is served with the best chips I have ever tasted and homemade coleslaw and a sidesalad, don't be... More
