Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I guess there must be a lot of young people reviewing who are looking for a street scene with dogs begging scraps from your table and fumes and noise from the passing cars, motor bikes and trucks who want to snap pictures for some digital...nomad site. The food looks better in the pictures than what it tasted like but not terrible….would not return.More

Top 2 taco spot in Sayulita. **Disclaimer: I've tried nearly all of them. Itacate gives you the most meat per taco and it's not even a close competition. Recommend the arrachera *strongly amongst their options. Often sells out so try earlier in the day to...get this. Toppings are limited but the real appeal here is the meat quality and portions. If this isn't' your thing, opt for a different spot. Great great food. Delicious. side note: Wait times can get crazy. Don't hold this against the restaurant. It's because people want good food and they provide it.More

I saw many people lining up and later also realized a friend had recommended El Itacate. Now I know why. I came just before they opened so did not have to wait and had a table to enjoy the array of onions, salsa and white...beans placed before me. Then there is the fried cheese tortilla beckoning me with its tasty insides. No matter if you are omnivore, carnivore or vegetarian you can delight in this gooey, yummy crunchy local favorite. As a person who loves onions I was also super happy with the little packets of baked onions, chopped red onion with cilantro AND what might have been marinated onion provided to go with my steak. Plus 2 beers this came to about 22USD (335 pesos). They may be moving from the busy street location soon but I am sure people will follow themMore

We ate here several times during our week vacation and each time we left feeling more grateful and appreciative of the fabulous service and delicious steak tacos. We would highly recommend this spot but do get there and be prepared for a wait as they...are busy but you can stand in line and have a Margarita or beer so its not that bad at all.More

Wow. Great variety of tacos. You choose your meat or veggies and they do the rest. Also a cheese wrapped burrito big enough for two. Plenty of salsa too!

If you love queso then this is your place! Awesome is an understatement. Itacate con pollo was amazing! Kind of hard to get a table but the wait was worth it.

The cheese wrapped burrito is out of this world. I had it with pork. Also had the octopus taco, which was excellent as well. May go back tomorrow.

One of the best taco joints in town. The portions are huge and one taco is equivalent to 2! Would definitely recommend this place and would come back for another meal.

First of all the portions here are HUGE so order lightly and then get more if you need it. We had the Papas with chicken milanesa (basically a giant bowl of cubed potatoes mixed with cream cheese and bacon, piled with chicken milanesa, and topped...with a giant piece of fried cheese), smoked marlin taco, an alhambra with steak, and a tuna taco. Everything was delicious and a huge value. The margaritas were just okay and felt overpriced compared to others we've had around town. We still went with 5 stars because the food is that good, will be back for sure!More

Definitely recommend. Wish we could have eaten there more than once. SO yummy. The seating out on the street us super fun because you're amongst it too.

A couple different locals recommended this spot. Once we ate there it was easy to see why. Great food and fast service. Try the loaded potato and the queso fundido.

Holy moly so good! our group of friends ordered different burritos, and we were all loving the different tastes of this unique burrito. Instead of using a traditional corn or flour tortilla, they fry up cheese to a golden brown and use that to roll...a burrito. nice!More

I read rave reviews and even saw a travel blog about this taco spot, so I knew I had to try it. The different options they had really made it friendly for all diets. I had the gobenador taco which was smoked marlin with fried...cheese. It was delicious and something I wouldn’t normally not get to try. Two tacos are plenty as a meal since they are quite large. They also give you multiple salsas and onions to go with the tacos!More
