Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Basically they sell just fish, chips and fish and chips, a few dips and canned sodas. Anyway the fish and chips were one of the best we have ever eaten, a light batter, generous portions, not greasy at all and at very reasonable prices. Highly...recommended!More

We heard great reports about this fish and chip shop on the pier at Clogher head and were looking forward to trying it. It was busy and a 15 minutes wait for food. When I opened the box I was disappointed but gave it a...go anyway. The fish was very greasy and was pot on top of chips which then became very greasy too. Worst ever and won't be returning. 25 euros wasted.More

Wow. Supremely satisfying fish and chips unmatched by all we encountered in and around Cork and Dublin! Fresh fish, battered (sufficiently, but not excessively), fried to a light crisp, served hot and flakey, and offering nice selections of tartar sauces (with garlic and chili sauce,...etc). Chips and pea mash were good, but they are carried by the fish. Smoked battered and fried is also an option (strong recommend). Well done, washes down excellent with a coke. EN-freaking-JOY!More

A very popular place, freshly prepared food in large portions. Tasted good and was definitely worth the wait and the price. The location is lovely too and for dessert or to sweeten the waiting time there’s an ice cream stall just opposite.

Had fish and chips on Friday. Disappointing for the first time in ages. The fish wasn't seasoned so it tasted bland and it was very oily. It is also €2 more expensive per box. It won't make us stop going but it was a little...disappointing this time. It is still worth a visit.More

When the source for your fish is your own boat, 200 yards from your shop, you can’t be accused of it not being fresh! Cooked to perfection and served with a smile, the portions are always generous and guaranteed to melt in your mouth! Fish...suppers as they used to be! One word of warning! visited here after hearing a few people talk about the place, I like the idea of food trucks and because it was selling fish beside the pier I thought yes this place should be good. When it came to it I got fish and chips...my partner got chips they were uninspiring the chips were slightly undercooked the fish was average. Great spot great idea but sadly the execution wasn’t great.More

We came for the chowder but on a previous visit the locals had raved about the fish and chips - so I had the fish and chips instead when we saw the van was here and open. Fresh haddock done in feather light batter with...chips that you could actually taste potato in. Simple but very very tasty.More

Stumbled upon this fish and chips trailer and thought it would be much better considering the location. We expected a better variety of fish on the menu and more modern flavours. Similar trailers country wide have been better. Fish was tasty and fresh but it...would seem we got our chips on an off day.More

We were just driving the coast road south from Dundalk and thought the name "Port Oriel" sounded interesting. We wandered down to the port and found this fish and chip van parked by a fresh fish shop. The fish was freshly cooked while we waited,...it was extremely succulent in a light crispy batter - truly superb with perfectly cooked chips. Eating these whilst watching the seals, children fishing and the trawlers in the harbour was just idyllic.More
