Went for dinner on a Wednesday evening, nice friendly atmosphere and welcome, not forced or rehearsed which is refreshing. The dining area is classically furnished and incredibly well kept. Nice menu not too fussy but demonstrates a kitchen worthy of two rosettes. Fresh bread and...More

We had fish and chips and steak pie. Excellent quality. Up there with the very best in our opinion. Took a while for service but worth the wait for the quality of food and presentation. Nice local ale and lager. Lots of parking space. Highly...More

Popped in by chance after discovering the Grouse Inn wasn't open until 6pm this evening and am so glad we opted for here. I had the starter of scallops with a black pudding crumb, Parma ham and pea pureé which was to die for, followed...More

Delicious and beautifully presented, in season, food. The service was exceptionally friendly yet professional. We were able to book a table at the last minute, and they were more than happy to accommodate us. We had only the starters of scallops, pigeon breast and heritage...More

Called in mid afternoon, midweek for a late lunch. Really lovely, clean, proper pub. Food was delicious but over priced. £19 for lamb rump served with 3 heritage carrots (cut in half), 1 baby leek and a small portion of fondant potato. I mean, how...More

About a Wednesday eve I almost accidentally stumbled upon the chequers (a touch of serendipity maybe?) sitting, drink in hand I made eye contact with a young blonde chap who gave me a homely smile, always nice to be in the presence of staff who...More
