We travelled out to see this pub and it is brilliant. Is was great sitting next to the big fire place enjoying my food & drink. We left with smiles all round. Definitely worth a revisit especially with summer coming 👍.

As a large party we ate in the back room , which was nice if a little cold and dark, the food was wonderful , the Steak Pie was had by many and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The desert of pavlova was absolutely mouth watering good ! Would love to go back and eat in the main pub with the... More

Thank you. Apologies that the room was cold, the fire was obviously not lit. Hope to see you again soon. More

Warm, open log fire on a miserably cold February day! They can't go wrong!! Food is good too. Had the most delicious bowl of parsnip and apple soup, well spiced and so welcome after a rather refreshing walk. The jacket potatoes also looked very welcoming, served with a variety of fillings and a good salad. Our walking party will certainly... More

We stopped here half way round a long walk and both our muddy shoes and 3 muddy dogs were welcome. Lots of space for the dogs and water bowl was provided. The place had a nice atmosphere and waa a great break from the wind and the rain :)

Having walked around the nearby Longshaw estate to build up an appetite, we called in at the Grouse Inn yesterday for a late afternoon Sunday lunch. Everything was first class; from the pub's superb peakland location, to the 'traditional' and homely character of the pub itself, through to the excellent grub on offer. My wife and I plumped for the... More

We ate here Boxing Day 2016, the place is in a great location for walking and access into the peak district The food was excellent, especially the fish and chips and you can also take dogs into the back room. The only reason its not 5 stars is that when we went the place was bedlam, very full (which you... More

We have been meaning to eat at this pub for a while due to its beautiful location, however, the service inside was very disappointing. From where we were sitting we could see inside the kitchen where the conditions were very unhygienic. A young girl working in the kitchen was eating, licking her fingers and then feeding what she was eating... More

Hello, I can only apologise for the lack of professionalism our staff were showing in the food service area. Firstly, neither of the staff are the chefs so are not preparing food. The waitress can only have been eating her own food and feeding to her boyfriend. Although I'm sure this is a spectacle that no one wishes to see!... More

Eating at this pub is always a warm friendly experience, the staff are cheerful and helpful, the landlady, Sally, is always on hand to keep things running smoothly. After a couple of visits you feel like one of the family. The steak pie is the best for miles around and as you leave you look forward to your next visit.... More

I have visited this family owned and run pub many times over the years. It is a delightful, traditional and welcoming pub, one which you don't find very often these days. The staff are so friendly and obliging and nothing is too much to ask. The food is top notch (especially the steak pie) and the pub has such a... More

A group of mountain leaders met at the pub on a very quiet Tuesday night which had been pre arranged with the owner. However when we arrived we were verbally attacked by the land lady for not buying a drink or food before we went off on a night navigation expedition. We all planned to eat and drink there after... Hello, Firstly, thankyou for recommending us to people. We hope they have enjoyed their experiences with us. Secondly, I am sorry you felt you were spoken to rudely however, after taking up a large amount of the limited space available in our signposted 'for patrons only' car park, you explained that you would be returning for both food and drink...
