If he's singing about the cornbread, it has to be a great place to stop & eat. Fried chicken on Sunday in Mississippi, how southern can it get? Great buffet restaurant near the Trace in an old building - very nice.

My wife and I detoured off the Natchez Trace Parkway on our bicycles to check out the hype over the Old Country Store we'd been hearing since Nashville. It's about the "package" - the unlikely standalone building on a highway, the wall to wall brick a brac and business cards plastered all over the walls, Mr. D serenading all comers,... More

The best fried chicken you will ever eat! Arthur owns he place and he makes everyone feel at home. He walks around and talks to his guests and sings. Be hungry when you go. Great vegetables o!

We've heard for years about the fried chicken at the Old Country Store in Lorman. We recently got together with some other motorcycle enthusiasts and made the trip down. We were warmly greeted and told to grab a plate and help ourselves to the buffet. As many have already said, the fried chicken is to die for!! I'm not sure... More

This place has hands down the best fried chicken in Mississippi. Really all the food is really good. The atmosphere is very much old country store and the people are friendly. Definitely stop here and eat!!!!

The good ol southern food here is just like mama used to make, but if you wanna eat your fill you had better fill your plate up on the 1st pass!! Service is good but they're slow with the food coming out! Also you should expect to dodge your fellow diners whom apparently eat fried food for every meal every... More

If you're looking for a fancy place this isn't it. You might be taken aback be the simplicity and age of the place when you walk. Just keep walking. The buffet line is not going to improve your first impression. Get over it and grab a plate. Look around and check out the friendly faces of the staff. Now take... More

The fried chicken. Oh, my, the fried chicken. Nothing more to say about that. This place is in the middle of nowhere with nothing else around but you'll spend more time here than you might expect. When we went in, we sat 2 tables away from the proprietor who was having his lunch. He greeted us, finished his lunch, then... More

We were welcomed with a song! Really! Mr. D greets his guests as if you were visiting his home. The buffet was very tasty and country! Super large pieces of chicken with the trimmings. The only down side was that dessert was not included on the buffet line or the price. It was totally separate. 😔 Since this was a... More

Please add this restaurant. I found it when we stayed in Port Gibson, MS. it is about 8 miles out of town. It is on yelp. You can see it here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/old-country-store-lorman-2, it is also on roadfood.com. It is very inexpenisive and the food is very good. Moreover, the owner is a character. He sings to you. The waitresses treat you like relatives. It is truly a wonderful experience.
