This restaurant is a favorite because of their uniquely decorated space, great lamb dishes, and varied specials. We love to start with the chutney sampler -- I recommend the hot and spicy, mango, and cilantro walnut -- and soft, fresh flatbreads. The chopan kebab is a great cut of lamb for the price, and always tasty. I've also enjoyed several... More

Had the lamb with rice, and afghan tea. Loved the experience and chatting with the owner and hearing his story. Did not have room for dessert but will be returning for sure!

Good food, affordable prices, nice and clean environment. I recommend lamb dishes. They come with different vegetables and basmati rice. Menu dishes are well served.

My partner Sam, Addie my service dog and I stopped by for an early dinner. Well, I have to say that my taste buds were dancing to the wonders of the cuisine. The chutney sampler was delightful with three different chutneys to enjoy with the meal. The curried lamb that I had couldn't be better in flavor or tenderness. Sam's... More

I hadn't been to the Kyber Pass in many years. I met a friend today for a late lunch. The restaurant was very quiet and beautifully decorated. We both had excellent chai and then chose the lunch buffet. There were nice choices. I had a basic salad with a light lemony dressing - and went back for seconds. I also... More

Although we are from the other side of the river, this Saint Paul eatery has become one of our favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. The ambiance is distinctive without being overdone. The dining space is comfortable and the carpets hanging from the ceiling help the acoustics. Service is efficient and friendly without being phony. The food is genuinely Afghan,... More

We went to Khyber Pass Cafe for a noon lunch buffet (~$11). The food was good but not exceptional, and the buffet was quite small. There were vegetarian options like curried potatoes, and eggplant dish, and lentils. Meat options included a curried meatball, chicken kababs and a chicken curry. The Naan was not very good. Tasted packed not fresh baked.... More

Nice, quite place to get authentic Afghani food. The owners came here from Afghanistan in the 70's and are very personable. I describe the food as "comfort food". I never thought I would ever crave mung beans. I'm not a scientist or mathematician, but my impression of the article is that the term "elegance" is an unhelpful one in the... More

Simply great. One of the best places in Twin Cities. No pretensions, just excellent food, decent wine and efficient service. Highly recommend.

Had the lamb dish, Shola goshti (sp). My SO had the lunch buffet. The lamb was fantastic - maybe the most tender lamb that I have ever had. Wonderful flavor. Was expecting a bit spicier bit it was perfect. The buffet was great. I got to taste the milk custard flavored.with rose water. Wow! Amazing flavor and finish. Highly recommend.

Thank tiwahl
