Biking along the serene Root River Trail is always a wonderful experience. We always plan a stop in Whalen for the pie. We have savored many different selections there. Our favorite is the sour cream raisin. If you are looking for a day away from the rush, rush of life, you will find it on the Root River Trail and... More

My husband and I biked from Lanesboro down the Root River Trail and stopped for a slice of pie before heading back to Lanesboro. Everyone we talked to raved about the Aroma Pie Shoppe but we were slightly disappointed. The pie wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't the most amazing pie we ever had, like everyone said it was.... The morning started with an impromptu rental of bicycles in Lanesboro on a warm, sunny day. For no particular reason, we rode east and happened upon Aroma Pie Shop. I stopped for the coffee but was tempted by the display of pies. I succumbed to the strawberry-rhubarb pie calling my name. Uncharacteristically, my husband responded to being enticed by the... Stopped at Aroma while pedaling through town. The pie is as good as they say it is in these reviews. I had the French silk and my wife had the Pecan pie. It was absolutely delicious! The crust was very good and the filling was awesome! This is a must stop if you're in this town. The pie is sooooooo... More

what could be better after a bike ride through beautiful country than a piece of homemade pie and ice cream? And it is delicious pie.... we did the bike trail two days in a row in the same direction so we could go back for more. I love Strawberry Rhubarb and had it both days. The crust was flaky and... You are riding along and see a building that says pies, Aroma Pie Shop. Stop. Eat pie. Coffee is good too. Pumpkin pie, blueberry rhubarb, and chocolate cream or three that we tested all were very good.

We stopped for pie on our bike ride. It was late afternoon when we stopped so a limited selection but we all had a delicious slice. Our group had apple pie, peach pie and peanut butter pie. We had to ride more to work off our pie but it was worth it. The crust was delicious and light. Great stop.

My wife and I have been exploring the Root River Bicycle Trail system in Southeastern Minnesota. We saw a television news feature on a pie shop in Whalen, Minnesota that was a local business for many years, but was scheduled to close. New owners purchased the business so we thought we would check it out as we biked that section... More

An easy five mile bike ride east from Lanesboro. Great pie with optional ice cream. A nice enclosed porch with a view of the trail Several humming bird feeders right at the windows. Humming birds included. It is a little bit pricey but where else can you get fresh pie on the bike trail? Not open Tuesday and Wednesday. Closes... More

We arrived in Lanesboro and had just enough time to bike to Whalen before the pie shop closed at 5 pm. It was delicious pie! They do have more choices earlier in the day, but we enjoyed the French silk and blueberry cheesecake pie.
