We had the chicken broccoli omelet and nisu French toast. We shared. Both were very good. We also had the homemade wheat bread which was great. Nice friendly staff even when they were very busy. Glad we found them!

Very good local "diner" - food was great, the atmosphere is updated. Nice place to visit. I had pancakes, and they were one of the best I've had.

Not too many dining options on a Sunday in Hancock so I popped in here with my dad. The place is much nicer than years ago. I had the biscuits and gravy which is something I rarely have and they were good. Seemed to have a steady stream of regular customers.

The Kaleva Cafe has been around for a long time. The food is pretty good, however IMO there is too much processed stuff, like cheese wiz in the omelets instead of cheddar . . . breads are just basic store breads . . . but they do keep a decent quality, are consistent and give ample portions. I do love... More

Kaleva used to be owned by UP Finns but unfortunately that's not the case anymore. They still do have Finnish delicacies available though. Try their wonderful breakfasts, you won't be disappointed. During lunch time their sandwiches are usually really good. For all things Finnish, try Finnish pancakes, nisu or tarts. And yes, they do have Finnish style pasties too.

Had breakfast here twice- Nisu bread was great and breakfast was very reasonable. Setting was pleasant, service good, and meal was not screwed up.

Blueberry pancakes were very good as were the American fries. This place has an assortment of baked goods. We even had a pasty as an appetizer before breakfast! It was delicious!

We had breakfast here since it was just outside our hotel. The omelet was stuffed and much larger than expected. The raspberry French toast was very good and different! Service was great even though they were slammed when we were there. Great tasting food!

This local place offers home cooked meals. They also have a variety of cookies and bars that can be purchased. The baked goods were excellent! Reminded me of cookies we had as kids.

Thank Wielgus
