Unfortunately our expectations were not met with this establishment..... expensive mediocre Mexican food does not work. Everything tasted bland. Would not recommend. Wish it was different.

We visited this restaurant while in Detroit. It was a small quaint place that is worth visiting. Really good Mexican seafood options. One of the members in our party had the steak fajitas which was very flavorful....would definitely recommend that entree. The server was exceptionally...More

Just received a phone call---four hours before our Saturday night reservation. Returned the voice message, and the person stated that they were calling to inform me that "chef is not accepting credit cards tonight. Cash Only." WOW! Saturday night/busiest night out. Reservation made days ago...More

We had heard that this was one of the best Mexican restaurants in Detroit. And it did not disappoint. Starting with the table side made guacamole to the queso fundido to the lobster quesadillas. All terrific. No liquor license but we were encouraged to bring...More

I had visited more authentic Mexican places (in terms of cooking), but this is a good place nonetheless. Spice and heat a bit dialed down, but flavors are good. Service is attentive without being cloying. Prices are about average

The restaurant is located close to I-75 and is easy to find. Although it is a somewhat desolate area, we did not feel unsafe. The ambience is OK, but a notch below what you would expect for steaks that cost almost $30. The service was...More

I love reading Eater Detroit and like their recommendations for restaurants so I decided to try El Asador, one of their current top choices. All in all, our experience was just ok. On the negative side they don't have beer (no cerveza?), they have one...More

Yes, it's a gem hidden in the city, but what you find is friendly service, good foods, and plenty of folks who took the drive from the suburbs. The guacamole is prepared table side and excellent. Thought we were back in Puerto Vallarta! Steaks and...More
